Malayalam Actor, Sreenivasan Passed Away, Here’s A Look Into His Family Including Two Famous Sons

Acclaimed Malayalam actor, screenwriter, director, and producer, Sreenivasan bid farewell to the world at the age of 69. If the reports are to be believed, the actor had been receiving treatment at his home for a long-term illness. It was on December 20, 2025, when Sreenivasan passed away, leaving behind his timeless legacy. For the unversed, Sreenivasan had been in the industry for over five decades and contributed to more than 225 films.

Be it with his acting or directorial journey, Sreenivasan won hearts for all these years, earning huge acclaim. Some of his notable works include Sandesham, Nadodikkattu, Vadakkunokkiyanthram, Chinthavishtayaya Shyamala, and Njan Prakashan, among others. In his personal life, Sreenivasan got married to Vimala in 1984 and welcomed two sons, Vineeth Sreenivasan and Dhyan Sreenivasan, who followed in their dad’s footsteps and became famous in the glamour world.

If the reports from Mathrubhumi are to be believed, Sreenivasan had been suffering from a long-term illness, and he was receiving treatment in his residence at Udayamperoor. Reportedly, the actor’s health worsened eventually, and he was admitted to a hospital in Thrippunithura. The actor passed away on December 20, 2025, and it was confirmed on the same day. The actor is survived by his wife and his two sons.

Talking about his sons, Sreenivasan once revealed that both of their names, Vineeth Sreenivasan and Dhyan Sreenivasan, were inspired by his love for sports. While Vineeth’s name was after Hockey star, Vineet Kumar, Dhyan’s name was after Dhyan Chand. The trio had collaborated on several projects together and left the audience in awe of their joint talent. The late actor often acknowledged the hardships his sons went through to carry forward his legacy and cement their names in the industry, while both of his sons expressed their gratitude for being part of such a family and talked about the pressure they had to endure to meet their family’s expectations. 

Sreenivasan’s son, Vineeth Sreenivasan, is an Indian actor, director, producer, dubbing artist, screenwriter, playback singer, and lyricist, who predominantly works in the Malayalam film industry. The actor attended Rani Jai Higher Secondary School and earned a degree in mechanical engineering from KCG College of Technology, Chennai. In 2008, Vineeth began his acting career and appeared in many films, including Cycle, Makante Achan, Traffic, Chappa Kurishu, Om Shanti Oshana, Ormayundo Ee Mukham, Oru Vadakkan Selfie, Kunjiramayanam, Aravindante Athidhikal, and Thanneer Mathan Dinangal. His directorial debut was in 2010 with Malarvadi Arts Club. Some of his more directorial works include Thattathin Marayathu, Thira, Jacobinte Swargarajyam, Hridayam, Varshangalkku Shesham, and Karam.

Talking about Sreenivasan’s younger son, and Vineeth Sreenivasan’s brother, Dhyan, he is also a famous actor and director who predominantly works in the Malayalam film industry. He began his career in 2013 with the movie Thira, directed by his brother, Vineeth Sreenivasan. He appeared in several movies afterwards, but most of them didn’t do well at the box office. Dhyan made his directorial debut with the movie, Love Action Drama. In his personal life, Dhyan is married to his longtime girlfriend, Arpita Sebastian.
