Cartier’s Baignoire watch comes with an eye-watering £18000 price tag, but we’ve spotted a beautiful statement watch that looks just like it but costs just £160
When it comes to accessories, nothing is more timeless and classic than a wrist watch. Whether it’s something you wear everyday, or a piece you pop on for special occasions, a great watch should last a lifetime and be able to be worn with just about every possible outfit you could think of.
One that checks all of these boxes is Cartier’s Baignoire watch, which has an elegant oval face, a bracelet-style strap and roman numerals around the face. However, with an £18000 price tag, it’s the kind of watch most of us can only dream of affording. So when we spotted Abbott Lyon’s Polka Dot Crystal Watch which looks strikingly similar for a fraction of the price, we had to shout about it.

The Polka Dot Crystal Watch features a similar oval-shaped dial, with a sturdy bracelet style strap that looks like a solid bangle from the front, but features flexible links at the back. This not only makes it comfortable to wear, but also makes it easier to adjust to get the perfect fit by simply removing a link or two.
Despite being priced at £159 – a huge £17,841 cheaper than the Cartier model – the Polka Dot Crystal Watch is made with 18K gold-plated brass and is studded with flush-set crystals across the strap and face surround. If gold isn’t your colour, you can also pick it up in silver, which is made from a platinum plated stainless steel.
The watch is enough of a statement to be worn solo, but it’s also dainty enough that you can stack it with other bangles and bracelets for a layered look. It also has a timeless cream face, with gold roman numerals and gold hands to keep it subtle and elegant.
If you want a similar style but with a linked bracelet strap running all the way around, this Coach Sammy 22mm Yellow Gold Tone Ladies Watch is £150 and features an oval dial with a branded face. Tory Burch’s £320 Oval Watch is also similar in style, with a simple linked strap and oval-shaped face.
On the flip side, if you prefer your watch to be a solid bangle all the way around, like the Cartier one, the Rosefield Watches Gold-Plated Studio Bangle Watch is £149 at Anthropologie. For watches that are a hybrid of the two strap styles like Abbott Lyon’s, the Michael Kors 28mm Gold Tone Ladies Watch is £199, but features a more circular-shaped face.
For some added bling, we also love the Swarovski Imber Bangle Watch, which is £380 and has crystals covering the dial surround.
