If you’re looking for a face SPF that not only protects your skin but actually sits well underneath makeup, Millie Mackintosh has found the perfect pick that gives a ‘lovely glow’
It’s no secret that SPF is one of the most crucial elements of your skincare routine, but one of the biggest complaints most people have is that it doesn’t sit well under makeup. Whether it leaves a greasy finish, a white cast or simply pills whenever you apply products over the top of it, it’s one of the main reasons some people avoid using it.
But considering how important SPF is to protect your skin from sun damage (and help slow down the signs of ageing), it’s time to track down one that actually works – and Millie Mackintosh thinks she’s found it. When asked on Instagram about her favourite facial SPF, she raved about the BFF SPF 30 Cream from Trinny Woodall’s brand, saying: “This one from Trinny London gives the most lovely glow under makeup.”

The BFF SPF 30 Cream works for all skin types, and has a lightweight sheer coverage that helps boost your glow whether you wear it on its own, or as the first step in your makeup routine. It’s lightly tinted and comes in five shades, with microencapsulated pigments that blend into your skin and help to cover up redness and uneven skin tones.
Although it looks white when it’s first squeezed out, once you start massaging it into your skin the microencapsulated pigments burst, providing pigment for some sheer coverage. It’s also formulated with SPF30, giving your skin the protection it needs from the sun and combining essential skincare and makeup in one.
The BFF SPF 30 Cream is priced at £41 for a 30ml tube, but if that’s a little out of your budget there are some other affordable options that are also well-praised for how well they work under makeup. The Future Fluid SPF50+ Superlight Mineral Skinscreen from Ultra Violette is £38 for a larger 50ml tube, and is one of my personal favourite SPFs to use both on its own and under makeup.
For a more budget-friendly pick, the Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun Rice + Probiotics SPF50+ is just £15.50 and has a lightweight, non-greasy formula with SPF50 protection. Another great affordable option is the Ultralight Face Fluid SPF30 Sunscreen from Byoma, which is £14.99 and hydrates, soothes and boosts your barrier as you wear it.
However the Trinny London BFF SPF 30 Cream has gotten rave reviews from shoppers. One said: “It gives me a lovely glow. You only need one pump and it’s like velvet over the skin. Amazing!!”
Another wrote: “This cream is really lovely l wanted something light as l am getting on a bit now and was tired of foundation getting clogged up in my wrinkles. This cream is perfect and l only need a little bit and it makes my skin feel really soft l am very pleased.”
Whilst a third said: “Feels so nourishingly good on the skin. Doesn’t feel oily or sticky!”
One did mention: “Happy with colour but it’s the second I have had where pump is temperamental.”
Whilst someone else agreed: “Love the product itself but I wish the dispenser was better – I’m on my fourth and every time it gets more and more difficult to pump which is frustrating when you’re getting ready in a rush and by the end you feel lots of the product is wasted and left behind in the tube. Please change the packaging!”
