Patrick Mahomes Sr. is now looking at the possibility of spending up to 10 years behind bars after violating his probation.
The father of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is back in jail after he allegedly violated the terms of his probation by drinking alcohol. Now, prosecutors want the elder Mahomes to serve up the next decade behind bars, TMZ reported Thursday.
Mahomes Sr. had been on five years’ probation after he pleaded guilty to a 2024 DWI arrest.

The probation violation report, according to the outlet, indicated that the alcohol ankle monitor he had on registered a high reading on New Year’s Day.
Mahomes Sr. provided urine tests on Jan. 5 and Jan. 9, just days after the reading, and they both were negative for alcohol.
Prosecutors also allege that he had failed to do the required community service at the rate of three hours per month for several months.
Mahomes Sr. was booked into Smith County Jail in Tyler, Texas, on Tuesday and remains held without bond, online court records show.
He is scheduled to go before a judge on March 9 to present his side of the story, but he will remain incarcerated until then.

Mahomes Sr. has been arrested at least three times for DUI, with his most recent one coming in 2024 just before the Chiefs’ Super Bowl win.
The younger Mahomes said in a docuseries about the Chiefs’ Super Bowl run that the last DWI incident “woke” his dad up.
“It was during that Super Bowl. It became a story, and so, I had to answer questions about it,” Patrick Mahomes said in the episode. “I think just knowing that it hurt me woke him up to know that like, you can’t keep doing the same things.”
The Chiefs star has not publicly commented on the latest news about his father.
