Coca-Cola has released a new flavour and it combines two of its most loved special editions to make one retro, nostalgia-filled beverage that’s got many Asda shoppers itching to try it

A new flavour of Coca-Cola has been spotted on the shelves of Asda and some shoppers are “so excited” to try it – but others have a different opinion on the new beverage. Among one of the most famous brands in the world, Coca-Cola is known and loved for its original sparkling cola flavour.

Over the years, the company has launched new versions of its iconic beverage – from Diet Coke and Coke Zero to limited editions and permanent additions to the flavour roster like Coca-Cola Cherry, Coca-Cola Lime, Coca-Cola Vanilla and more.

Asda shoppers were thrilled when they spotted Coca-Cola’s new flavour, Cherry Float, a spin on the retro 80s sweet treat. There are a multitude of methods to making a Cherry Float but typically, it involves adding one or two scoops of vanilla ice cream to a glass then topping with Coca-Cola and cherry syrup or fresh cherries.

Now, Coca-Cola has whipped up the flavours of the beloved dessert beverage in one handy bottle – and it’s already being sold at Asda.

The popular supermarket is renowned for its medley of household necessities such as food, cleaning products, baby care items and more, as well as its on-trend homeware, clothing, and limited edition releases.

Hit Instagram account New Food Spotter UK shared an image of the new drink on social media with the simple caption: “NEW COCA COLA CHERRY FLOAT NOW IN @asda”.

In the comments section, people were keen to share their thoughts. One person said: “Oooooooo want this!”

Another said: “OMG I am SO excited to try this one! Cherry YAY. Might have to make an actual Coke float with it”.

A third added: “Dying to try this!! Looks so retro!” While a fourth asked: “Do they stock the zero version?”

But some shoppers were less than impressed. One said: “So… just cherry vanilla?”

Another, who claims to have already tried it, said: “It’s mid at best”.

To which, someone else replied: “I know right! I thought it would’ve been better”.

Another unsatisfied customer added: “Tastes like I’ve boiled cauliflower, binned the cauliflower and drunk the water.”

New Food Spotter UK has amassed a decent following on social media thanks to its reliable updates, images and footage showcasing all the latest sweet treats, snacks and more seen in supermarkets and other retail stores across the country.

The account, which boasts 149K followers on Instagram, often shares reviews and product updates, too.

Coca-Cola has been a beloved drink for more than 100 years. Its iconic formula was finalised by Dr. John S Pemberton in May of 1886.

He was a pharmacist in Atlanta, Georgia, and managed to create the syrup for Coca‑Cola. The beloved beverage saw carbonated water teamed with the new syrup to produce a drink dubbed “delicious and refreshing”.

According to the Coca-Cola website, Dr. Pemberton “carried a jug of the new product down the street to Jacobs’ Pharmacy in Atlanta. There, it was sampled, pronounced “excellent” and placed on sale as “a soda fountain drink for five cents a glass.”

His bookkeeper, Frank M Robinson, suggested the name Coca‑Cola and “penned the flowing script that is famous today”.
