Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart’s mom, Kara, spoke about what makes her son special away from the field in an emotional speech at the NFL Honors ceremony in San Francisco on Thursday.
The proud mom delivered a heartfelt speech on the stage before the 2025 AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award eventually went to Panthers wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan.
“Jaxson has always been physically talented but what makes him special isn’t what’s necessarily what’s recorded on a stat sheet,” Kara said. “Jaxson is the definition of a true competitor.
“His will for greatness is unique and truly contagious. He’s able to connect and find commonality within a locker room, and his profound love and loyalty love for his family and teammates is unparalleled. Jaxson balances unwavering confidence and sincere humility.
“Jaxson, I love you. I’m so proud of you and I can’t wait to see what your future holds.”
Dart — who received one first-place vote, per NFL.com — smiled and mouthed, “I love you” while sitting in the audience with his girlfriend Marissa Ayers and dad, Brandon.
McMillan received 41 of 50 first-place votes to win the OROTY award, edging Dart, Saints quarterback Tyler Shough (five first-place votes), Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson (one) and Buccaneers wide receiver Emeka Egbuka.
Seahawks offensive lineman Grey Zabel received the other two first-place votes.
Kara was joined on stage by the finalists’ friends and family to express their admiration and love.
Dart and Ayers hit their first red carpet together at NFL Honors after going public with their relationship on social media last month.
Ayers, who was a ring girl for the Jake Paul-Anthony Joshua fight card in Miami last December, attended multiple Giants games this season.
The model was seen with Dart’s mom and dad on the sideline at Gillette Stadium during the Giants’ 33-15 loss to the Patriots on “Monday Night Football” on Dec. 1.
