Jerry Rice left some fans scratching their heads when he made quite the remark about Joe Montana on Friday.
The two Niners legends were kicking off their celebrity pro-am golf tournament at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco, when Rice hopped on a microphone and began praising his former quarterback to a crowd at the event.
Rice started off his speech by calling Montana “the greatest quarterback to ever play,” but then his compliments went a step further.
“Hey,” Rice said. “Think about this guys. If Joe Montana, if he was a female, Joe and I probably would have dated. We had such great chemistry.”
Montana quickly shook his head and tried to wave off Rice, all while some in the audience let out a chuckle.

The two then welcomed their tourney’s attendees, before celebs and athletes hit the tee boxes to kick off their rounds.
Rice and Montana played together in San Francisco for about a decade in the 1980s and ’90s — and, clearly, the two still share a special bond all these years later.
