The Princess of Wales was spotted wearing a brand new heart-shaped necklace during a recent outing, and it appears to be engraved with a romantic note – here’s how to get the look

It seems love really is in the air already, after Kate Middleton was spotted wearing a beautiful new piece of meaningful jewellery on a recent outing. Whilst visiting the new Archbishop of Canterbury, Dame Sarah Mullally, in London last week, Princess Kate was seen wearing Daniella Draper’s best-selling Gold Keeper’s Heart Trace Chain Necklace for the first time.

A new addition to her jewellery collection, some suspected this may have been a birthday gift from Prince William, although it could also have been an early Valentine’s Day present with February 14 approaching. Eagle eyed fans will have also spotted that the necklace seems to bear an engraved message, making it an even more romantic gift.

Kate’s new necklace is priced at £1555, with an additional charge for hand engraving or adding handwriting to the necklace. The necklace itself is handmade in England from recycled 9ct yellow gold, and symbolises love and connection, making it a wonderful meaningful gift.

However, if your budget won’t quite stretch to Kate’s exact necklace, there are some great alternatives around that we’ve spotted. These are three of our favourites, and they’d make the perfect Valentine’s Day gifts for a loved one, or just as a treat to yourself. Each one can be engraved with a personal message, and two even hail from Kate-approved brands without breaking the bank.

The heart-shaped pendant might be slightly smaller than Kate’s, but this Edge of Ember necklace is a great option, especially as it comes with free engraving options. It’s made from 100% recycled sterling silver with 18k gold plating, and the Princess of Wales has been spotted wearing pieces from the brand before, making it officially Kate-approved.

Abbott Lyon Mini Heart Token Necklace – £69

Abbott Lyon’s heart-shaped token necklace is a great option if you’re looking for something that’s a little more budget-friendly. Made from 18k gold-plated stainless steel, you can get the back engraved with names, dates or a message of your choice, and you can even pick a birthstone to have inlaid into it to make it even more special.
