Liam Payne’s grieving former girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, broke down in tears as she revisited one of the homes they shared together. The music world was saddened in 2024 when the One Direction star fell to his death from a hotel balcony in Argentina at the age of 31.
Liam and Kate, 26, began dating in October 2022 and remained an item until his shock death two years later. In the months since the Strip That Down singer died, Kate has kept his memory alive by sharing insights and throwback photos from their time together.
And the Instagram model has been an open book about her grief – often opening up to fans and followers to share how much she is struggling without her partner. Taking to TikTok this weekend, Kate broke down in tears as she returned to one of the properties she had lived in with the chart-topping star.

Liam owned various properties around the world, including a mansion in Buckinghamshire and a huge, rented home in Florida. Kate revealed she had visited one of the properties, and her loss hit her hard once again.
Opening up to her followers, she said: “I’ve been sitting outside of the house that I used to live in with Liam for the past 45 minutes just in my car, and it’s just really hard to wrap my head around the fact that I’m not pulling in the driveway and going home to him being there. You really just never know what life is going to bring. Life can bring you plenty of happiness and plenty of joy, I’ve experienced it all. But I’ve never felt this much pain.”
She continued: “I came back to the town that me and Liam had a life in and where we were happy. I’ve only been here for two days, I really, really thought that this trip would help me move forward. But I feel like this trip has been the opposite for me. I would do absolutely anything right now to be able to pull onto the driveway and just be walking into the house with him waiting for me on the couch.”
Kate added: “I’ve been doing a lot of things that me and Liam would enjoy and instead of it bringing me comfort, it’s really just brought me nothing but sadness. I feel like I’m just five steps backwards. And I do love being here, I know that makes no sense because I’m sitting here crying my eyes out saying that it’s bringing me so much sadness but I love it so much because I was just so in love with him.”
She emotionally concluded: “Here, where it all started. Our life really, really began together and it’s just been really hard.” Kate has openly told her fans that she will forever be in love with Liam – and that any future partner that she opts to settled down with will need to accept this too. In a previous TikTok video, she said: “I want to make something clear. Whoever I end up with in my future will have to accept the fact I will always love Liam.”
She explained: “I will always talk about Liam, I will always laugh about Liam, I will always cry about Liam.” And she continued: “Let me tell you something, Liam Payne was my boyfriend. He wasn’t just this famous figure to me. It hurts so bad because I am just criticised all the time for speaking about my boyfriend that passed away, the person that I loved and still do love.
“I would never settle for anyone in this lifetime who did not feel comfortable enough with me speaking about Liam. Liam was a very big part of my life. He was my best friend, somebody I really thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with and, obviously, I know one day I’m going to have to move on. I want to get married one day. I want to have kids.”
She added: “When a person dies, they die twice, once when they actually die and the second time when you stop speaking about them. I’m not going to have Liam die twice on me. I will love him forever.”
