Going to watch a film can be pricey if you don’t know where to look, so here are some cinema deals for cheap tickets that you might not know about.
Going to the cinema is one of my favourite activities of all time. Especially during winter, when it’s gloomy, freezing, and there aren’t many other options, you cannot beat the cosy feeling of settling in to watch a movie with your favourite snacks.
It’s equally fun going alone as it is with a friend, discussing your views about the film on your journey back afterwards. However, in recent times, the cost of a cinema ticket has soared.
At some Glasgow venues, Saturday tickets can set you back nearly £20, which is crazy money.
As someone who regularly visits the cinema, I simply cannot manage to keep up with all the latest releases whilst paying standard price for my tickets.
And I’m not suggesting you should illegally stream them either – the atmosphere of a cinema is unmatched, and it keeps me away from my phone too, which is a bonus.
I recently discovered that surprisingly few people are aware of the huge range of cinema ticket offers that exist, and not exclusively during weekdays, reports the Express.
So I’ve decided to share a rundown of the top bargains that you can use if you fancy catching more of the latest releases but don’t want to pay an arm and a leg each time.
£3 weekend tickets with Three
This was an offer that I came across far too late, having recently changed mobile providers. But one of the benefits of being with Three is that you get Cineworld or Picturehouse tickets for £3 – plus a £1 booking charge – on any Friday, Saturday or Sunday, which is a massive saving compared to the standard prices.
Look for the offer on the Three Plus app, then copy and paste the code while paying for your ticket online.
2-4-1 tickets with Meerkat Movies
This is a classic, but as a reminder, you can get two cinema tickets for the price of one on Tuesdays or Wednesdays if you’ve purchased qualifying insurance from Compare the Market.
Even minimal cover such as travel insurance – which currently costs me just £10 per year – grants you twelve months of cinema discounts. Once again, there’s a weekly code available for use online or when booking tickets face-to-face, after logging into your Meerkat Rewards app.
Two tickets for £10 with Amazon Prime
Amazon Prime members can get a code for two Odeon tickets at £10, or two Odeon Luxe recliner seats for £15, monthly. This offer applies to any 2D screening from Monday through Thursday – ideal for weeknight fun.
Visit the Odeon section on Prime and copy the promotional code, then select your chosen film on the Odeon website and apply the code during checkout.
Two free tickets monthly with Sky Cinema
Sky Cinema subscribers can get two free Vue tickets each month through the MySky app. These tickets are valid for any 2D film showing Sunday through Thursday at any Vue cinema.
£4.99 Monday tickets at Showcase
This is a new one for me, but if there’s a Showcase cinema in your area, you can register for their Insider scheme without paying a penny. One of the benefits is securing tickets for a just £4.99 on Mondays, except bank holidays.
Even without Insider membership, Monday screenings still cost just £7.99, which beats many other cinema chains hands down.
Free weekly cinema ticket with MUBI Go
This is a bit more rogue, but film buffs who love independent films should definitely consider a MUBI Go membership. The streaming service boasts thousands of unique movies you probably won’t stumble upon via Netflix or Prime.
When you splash out on the Go package at £18.99 monthly, you’ll get a complimentary weekly ticket for a critically praised film at your local independent cinema. It’s a brilliant way to broaden your horizons and discover new films or genres you’d normally miss.
