Singer songwriter Charlie Puth got all the attention singing the national anthem at Super Bowl 2026 in Santa Clara, Calif.
Betting on the national anthem is the very first thing you can cash on in Big Game props.
For those who placed action on “How Long” it would take Puth to sing for Sunday night, if you bet the Under, you cashed.
BetMGM and others reported that Puth went under his total length projection, with the Over/Under set at 117.5 seconds at FanDuel.
Puth had actively pursued the opportunity to sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the Big Game for years.
He recorded a demo of it with his electric piano and sent it to Roc Nation, an entertainment company founded by Jay-Z, who passed it along to Roger Goodell.
“The arrangement is everything for me,” Charlie said at a pregame show press conference in San Francisco on Thursday.
“I always reverse engineer how I hear my own music in my head and then it’s kind of just like pulling it apart and making it a feasible product. … So I’ve been rehearsing this in my head for months, if that makes sense.”
FanDuel also offered other betting markets on Puth’s rendition, including the duration of his final note and whether a player or coach would cry, which was heavily juiced at -230. odds
Puth spoke about how he wanted to stand out like Chris Stapleton did in 2023 and stated his goal was to make viewers “feel inspired.”
He also had mentioned the pressures of living up to Whitney Houston’s iconic performance at Super Bowl 1991. Puth joined Houston as the only other New Jersey-native to sing the anthem at the Super Bowl.
Jon Batiste’s performance last year was also set at 120.5 seconds and Over bettors were beaten by the hook, as he clocked in at precisely 120 seconds.
Puth, 34, developed his musical foundation early in life, studying jazz and learning piano before attending the Manhattan School of Music’s Pre-College program.
He later enrolled at Berklee College of Music, earning a degree in music production and engineering in 2013.
Puth has released three studio albums to date, including “Voicenotes,” which received a Grammy nomination for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical at the 61st Grammy Awards.
He is scheduled to release his fourth studio album on March 27.
His collaboration with Wiz Khalifa, “See You Again,” was nominated for Song of the Year at the Grammys and spent 12 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
