Bad Bunny’s gesture at the Super Bowl during his half-time show was well received as fans online thought a little boy detained by ICE last month had made an appearance
Bad Bunny left fans in awe after a sweet moment during his epic NFL Super Bowl half-time show. The Puerto Rican musician made a powerful political statement on Sunday evening as he performed at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
The singer, 31, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, looked to have made a strong reference to Liam Conejo Ramos, the five-year-old who was detained by Donald Trump’s ICE agents last month after walking home from school in Minneapolis. The youngster was taken into custody alongside his father last month and transferred to a notorious family detention facility in Texas. The US Department of Homeland Security has since said it is seeking a deportation order for the Ecuadorian boy.
During his energetic half-time performance, Bad Bunny was seen handing a Grammy award to a young boy.
It showed the kid watching a clip of the singer give his speech at the music ceremony – which took place last week – on a small television before Bad Bunny’s sweet gesture. Taking to Twitter /X, one person said: “The little boy, Bad Bunny, gave the Grammy to resembles Liam Ramos. Wouldn’t be surprised is it was intentional.”

Another stunned viewer added: “Pretty sure Bad Bunny gave one of his Grammys to Liam Ramos, well done sir! What an AMAZING SHOW!!! Love over hate, always.” “Benito Bad Bunny gave his Grammy to LIAM! I’m crying! EPIC! Bad Bunny is an absolute AMERICAN HERO!,” gushed a third.
However, despite the gesture and any suggestion it was the young boy in question, it’s since been confirmed that the child on the stage was not Ramos but actually five-year-old actor and model Lincoln Fox.
The youngster shared his delight at the moment in an Instagram message following his cameo. He said: “I’ll remember this day forever! @badbunnypr – it was my truest honour.”
Despite it not being Liam, fans were still thrilled at the musician for another message regarding ICE. At last week’s Grammy’s Awards, the star won Best Música Urbana Album. During his acceptance speech, Bad Bunny called out U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
He said: “I’m going to say ICE out. We are not savage. We are not animals, we are not aliens, we are humans, and we are Americans.”
“Also, I will say to people, I know it’s tough to know not to hate on these days and I was thinking sometimes, we get contaminados [contaminated], I don’t know how to say that in English. The hate gets more powerful with more hate. The only thing that is more powerful than hate is love.”
His speech was well received as celebrities stood up, cheered and applauded. It led to Bad Bunny being the first artist to receive a standing ovation of the night.
Bad Bunny’s latest showing at the Super Bowl wasn’t entirely well received, though. US President Donald Trump went as far as calling his show “disgusting”.
During the show, Trump, who didn’t attend the game, took to social media to slam the musician’s Super Bowl appearance. He said: “The Super Bowl Halftime Show is absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER!
“It makes no sense, is an affront to the Greatness of America, and doesn’t represent our standards of Success, Creativity, or Excellence. Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A., and all over the World.
“This “Show” is just a “slap in the face” to our Country, which is setting new standards and records every single day — including the Best Stock Market and 401(k)s in History! There is nothing inspirational about this mess of a Halftime Show and watch, it will get great reviews from the Fake News Media, because they haven’t got a clue of what is going on in the REAL WORLD.”
