Sarah Ferguson, who regularly begged for assistance from her friend Jeffrey Epstein, once asked the paedophile to help out her goddaughter, commenting on the young woman’s appearance in yet another grim email exchange

Sarah Ferguson’s charity says it will close days after Epstein files released

Disgraced Sarah Ferguson asked paedophile pal Jeffrey Epstein to find a job for her “pretty” goddaughter, despite the financier’s dark side having by that point come to light.

On July 22, 2009, just over a year after the convicted sex offender was released from prison for soliciting prostitution with a minor, Fergie pestered Epstein to sort out “a bed in New York, and an internship with somebody” for her goddaughter, Laura McGowan, then just 22 years old.

The former Duchess of York highlighted Laura’s young age in her grim correspondence with Epstein, and also emphasised that she was a “pretty girl”. The lengthy friendship between Epstein and Sarah, who is reportedly now homeless after being booted out of Royal Lodge early, can be traced back through emails released as part of the ongoing Epstein Files revelations. In these controversial exchanges, debt-ridden Ferguson can regularly be seen pleading with Epstein to help dig her out of scrapes, with her requests ranging from pricey plane tickets to help with her rent.

As reported by The Telegraph, in this particular email, dated September 9 2010, Ferguson asked Epstein to help her young goddaughter get a head start in the Big Apple. She wrote: “My God daughter Laura aged 22, needs a bed in New York, and an internship with somebody. Could Leslie (Groff, Epstein’s assistant) do with a runner for a few months? Any ideas? A bed in one of those apartments I stayed in? Just a thought…”

Responding, “Laura who?” Epstein went on to advise Fergie that he would be in London towards the end of the month. The now 66-year-old grandmother replied: “Laura McGowan. Pretty girl. Great you will be in London. Can’t wait to see you. Xx” No further information is given regarding Laura’s identity.

This comes as it’s alleged that Ferguson was “madly in love” with shamed Epstein, who died by suicide in August 2019, while awaiting trial on charges of federal sex trafficking. It’s been claimed that the pair may have even “slept together”. This is according to author Andrew Lownire during a live appearance on his ‘Lownie Report’ podcast on Substack. Lownie, who penned the 2025 bombshell book, Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, claimed: “Andrew was sleeping with Ghislaine, Ghislaine was sleeping with Epstein … I’ve heard that Epstein and Sarah were sleeping together. It doesn’t surprise me.”

On his podcast, Lownie continued: “There’s a complicated psychosexual network going on as well as a financial one. Certainly, Ghislaine [Maxwell] and Sarah were not friends. I think Ghislaine was rather jealous of Sarah and vice versa. She felt that Sarah was moving in on someone she saw as her boyfriend.” In an additional comment made to the Mirror, Lownie said, “Sarah Ferguson was madly in love with Epstein and apparently spent several nights with him.”

The Mirror has approached Sarah Ferguson, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and the Palace for comment. Andrew has always strongly denied any wrongdoing.
