Gordon Ramsay has confessed he fancied his now-wife Tana Ramsay whilst she was with one of his friends. The chef and TV star has recalled how he thought Tana looked like a young Julia Roberts when they first met.
He recalled how he was taken by his wife the first time they met. Tana was driving the car that Gordon was in too, with him completely captivated about how beautiful she was.
“Tana was driving the car and I was sat in the back seat looking at my mate going, ‘Oh my god your girlfriend is f****** gorgeous’. She looked like a young Julia Roberts and she brought this level of excitement like no other. I’m not sure sure what Tana said when she met me, I got the feeling she wasn’t a big fan,” he said.
Tana then admitted: “I thought he was really arrogant, really full of himself. He used to really irritate me.”
However, a month or so later, the pair were both single and they decided to give things a go. Tana added: “It took about a month and then we were both single. We ended up chatting one night and chatted all night. I must have fancied him.”
The pair broke their silence on the huge feud between their son-in-law Adam Peaty and his parents. Caroline said her heart was ripped out when she was uninvited to the wedding last December.
Sharing their feelings on the feud for the first time, Gordon said: “It’s just upsetting. It’s all self-inflicted from their side, because we’ve done nothing – none of what you’ve read: no rudeness, no ignorance – we welcomed them.
“We sent a chauffeur-driven car for them to come to the engagement party and treated them like royalty. So to get that barrage of press was very hurtful. Tana took it very seriously.”
Asked if it could be resolved, they added: “It was Adam and Holly’s wishes for them not to attend and so we had to respect that. There’s stuff they need to sort out as parents. That’s nothing to do with Tana and me. But we are very mindful we want to move on and allow Holly and Adam to continue starting their lives together.”
An insider close to the Peaty family has fired back, insisting that they were not treated like royalty.
“The Ramsays did not treat Caroline like royalty at all – they treated her as though she was nothing. They ignored her existence and not once did Mrs Ramsay return any of Caroline’s texts,” a source close to the family said.
“It’s been a really emotional time for them as a family. They’re coming to terms with what has happened and that Adam has picked his side. It’s dashed any hope of reconciliation in the near future. They’re keeping their heads down and trying to move on quietly.”
