The Raiders aren’t quite ready to call it quits on Maxx Crosby.
During his introductory news conference Tuesday, new head coach Klint Kubiak made it clear he didn’t want the star pass rusher going anywhere.
“We want him to be a part of our success going forward. There’s no doubt about that,” Kubiak said. “He’s one of the best players in the NFL, so that’s a no-brainer to get to work with Maxx and see him continue to have success with his organization.”
Raiders owner Mark Davis echoed the same sentiment.
“Maxx has been a great, great Raider. He is a great Raider. He’s gone through a lifetime of development here for seven or eight years, and he still is a Raider. So, it’s all good,” Davis said.
The comments come just two days after it was revealed that Crosby reportedly told Raiders minority owner Tom Brady that he no longer wanted to play for the franchise.
Crosby has been butting heads with Raiders brass since late in the regular season when the team sat him for the final two games with a knee issue while the team locked up the No. 1 draft pick.

Crosby stormed out of Las Vegas’ facility after learning of their intentions.
“Yeah, I don’t give a s–t about the pick,” Crosby said earlier that week. “I don’t play for that. My job is to be the best defensive end in the world. That’s what I focus on every day.”
Earlier this week, Crosby, who had 10 sacks in 15 games this season, indicated that he hasn’t requested a trade out of Las Vegas during an appearance on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd.”
In January, Crosby underwent a minor meniscus repair, which features a recovery timetable of around three to four months, complicating a potential trade.
