TV news anchor Savannah Guthrie’s mother Nancy Guthrie has been missing since January 31 – which has prompted a widespread search across the UK.
Nancy is feared to have been abducted after she was reported missing on February 1, after family members raised the alarm. There are particular fears for Nancy’s wellbeing as she requires daily medication for high blood pressure and heart issues, it’s also understood she has a pacemaker.
An apparent ransom note was issued, which contained two deadlines: one of which was on February 5 at 5pm and the other was on February 9. Now, it has been reported that police are searching the home of a man who has been detained in connection with the case.

FBI release chilling images of masked man
In the search for Nancy, the FBI released terrifying images of a masked man outside Nancy’s home – which come from doorbell footage.
FBI Director Kash Patel said in a statement on X: “Over the last eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working closely with our private sector partners to continue to recover any images or video footage from Nancy Guthrie’s home that may have been lost, corrupted, or inaccessible due to a variety of factors – including the removal of recording devices.
“The video was recovered from residual data located in backend systems. Working with our partners – as of this morning, law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance. Anyone with information, please contact 1-800-CALL-FBI or visit http://tips.fbi.gov.”
The black and white images show a masked man wearing a zip up top, trousers and a backpack along with a pair of lack gloves as he approaches Nancy’s home and is seen attempting to cover the doorbell camera with plants.
Mother-in-law of detained man speaks out
A woman, who has identified herself as the mother-in-kaw of the person who has been detained by police, has spoken out claiming he has nothing to do with the case.
She told CBS: “They’re just invading my property.”
A man has been detained in connection to the case
Police are holding a man in connection with Nancy’s disappearance and his house is being searched.
He was taken into custody following a traffic stop, sources told CBS News.
The Prima County Sheriff’s Department later confirmed cops were conducting a search at an address in Rio Rico, south of Tuscon, Arizona – Nancy was abducted from her home in Tuscon on January 31. The search has been authorised by the court.
