Everyone can benefit from using sex toys. Disabled bodies have been (and remain) largely absent from conversations surrounding sex, consent, desire, and pleasure. But disabled people are just like everyone else. We have sexual desires and are capable of having full, vibrant sex lives. As sex tech grows to provide even more possibilities and advancements, sex toys are becoming more accessible.
I was born physically disabled. My right hand was amputated just below the elbow; my left arm is short, and my left hand is small and weak, with less than half of the strength and mobility of an average adult’s. I have issues with strength, grip, fine motor skills, and overall control, and I suffer from chronic pain and swelling that also affects my mobility. Not only did I test sex toys that were easier to hold and adaptable for my needs, but I also talked to other disabled people to find out more about what they look for in adaptable and accessible sex toys that actually work for their bodies.
During testing, I sexted with an AI bot made after the likeness of Luigi Mangione, an anonymous user named DomDaddyxxx controlled my vibrator in a chat room, and a former lover programmed my G-spot vibrator from 3,000 miles away. I also used these toys with people of different sizes and shapes to find the best accessible sex toys for partnered play.
All that to say, I tested a holistic array of the best sex toys for every type of body and ability, including solo and with partners. This included many app-controlled and wearable toys for hands-free play; toys with remotes to mitigate the need to reach or extend your body; mounts, pillows, and other devices to help with angles and mobility; and sex toys for every type of body and motor-skill level.
