Filmmaker Karan Johar recently heaped praises on Sanjay Leela Bhansali. During a recent interview, when asked about the last thing he watched that made him say “nice” because of the costumes, Karan didn’t hesitate before showering praise on the celebrated filmmaker. He told Hollywood Reporter India, “Always what Bhansali does. In every movie of his, the costumes are just outstanding. I think that he is a filmmaker I truly regard as one of the most aesthetic voices. So I think every Bhansali film.”
From the opulent sets of Devdas to the regal magnificence of Padmaavat, and the intricate detailing in Bajirao Mastani and Gangubai Kathiawadi, Bhansali’s films are synonymous with visual poetry. His costumes are not merely garments; they are extensions of character, mood, and narrative.
Meanwhile, Bhansali is gearing up for the release of his much-anticipated film Love & War, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal. According to a recent report by Midday, the production is moving at a steady pace to meet its scheduled release.
The filming has been progressing through various schedules, and the team is now focused on completing the remaining portions of the film. A source close to the production told Midday, “We have over two months of shoot remaining, with six songs yet to be filmed. Nearly 35 days have been blocked only for the songs. As with any Bhansali film, these aren’t quick tracks; they have been envisioned as elaborate sequences mounted on a grand canvas. These period-specific songs will need a lot of prep before being filmed.”
Karan Johar, on the other hand, is reportedly developing a massive family drama, something along the lines of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. However, an official announcement is awaited on this front.
