Call the Midwife star Natalie Quarry has taken on a brand new role

Call the Midwife star Natalie Quarry is set to make her movie debut, which features on-screen nudity.

The forthcoming film, Think of England, is inspired by the urban myth that the UK Government commissioned pornographic films to boost troop morale during the Second World War. The darkly satirical film is set in 1943 on the Orkney Islands as the Normandy landings loom.

The plot follows a disparate group of civilians and soldiers assigned to a top-secret unit, tasked with producing intimate propaganda under conditions of surveillance, coercion, and fear.

In the movie, Winston Churchill commissions the Jewish-German filmmaker Max Meyer (played by Ben Bela Böhm) to make a pornographic film featuring patriotic theatre actress Holly Spurring (Natalie Quarry) and washed-up former film star Corporal Harry Evans (Bandeira).

Holly is reluctant to agree to the secret mission, though it is darkly suggested she has little choice, while it’s clear Harry’s behaviour is becoming erratic.

The UK premiere will be screened at the Glasgow Film Festival on March 6. Directed by Bafta-nominated British writer-director Richard Hawkins, the film also stars The Big Impression star Ronni Ancona, who recently arrived in EastEnders as Bea Pollard.

Natalie joined the Call the Midwife cast in its 13th season as a student midwife, and her affection for the show dates back to her teenage years, reports MyLondon.

In a chat with Virgin Radio, she revealed: “I properly watched the show when I was a teenager. I feel like I was the biggest fan in the family, but they are really excited because it is something that we all used to watch together.”

After leaving drama school, she reached out to the show expressing her interest in being part of it. She further added: “When I was like 19. I was like, ‘Put me in an episode! ‘ So (episode one) is kind of a weird sort of full circle moment to me, being big-headed and being like ‘I’d be good in Call the Midwife’.”

Since arriving in Poplar, Nurse Clifford has become a fully-fledged midwife, become involved with the Women’s Liberation Movement, and found love with local social worker Cyril Robinson (Zephryn Taitte) – but their relationship has been a topic of discussion among the locals.
