After five months, Lavanya Tripathi made her first public appearance on Wednesday. Naturally the excitement among the paparazzi when ‘mega bahu’ walked in was palpable. The actress took part in a press interaction about her upcoming film, Sathi Leelavathi, which is slated to release on March 6.
‘I was pregnant when I started the shooting’
Starring Lavanya Tripathi and Malayalam star Dev Mohan, Sathi Leelavathi is directed by Tatineni Satya and produced by Naaga Mohan under Durgadevi Pictures. “The fact that someone like Gemini Kiran garu of Anandi Art Creations is presenting the film added an extra layer of glow to the film,” shares Lavanya. “I remember, when we started Sathi Leelavathi, I was pregnant. But I completed the shoot in just three-four months. I could do it only because of the support from the filmmakers, they were very empathetic and understood my story.” Lavanya shared that when she first heard the narration, she instantly connected to the script. “Many scenes in the film reflect real-life scenarios and what many couples go through. I was waiting for a quirky script and I am glad that Sathi Leelavathi came my way. So, the story chose me that way.”
Lavanya, who has been married to actor Varun Tej, comments that couples have to be like friends. “Otherwise, there is no point. Patience and honesty are important. Since I have been married for only two years, I think I can’t give long sermons yet,” she says, laughing. The female lead comes up with a solution to make her marriage work in the film.

On embracing motherhood
This being Lavanya’s first public appearance after delivering a baby boy. Ask her how she is embracing motherhood, Lavanya says that it’s an amazing feeling. “It was a very special moment and it was very overwhelming. We are thankful for all the love that’s coming in.” The actress clarifies that the film the cult classic and 1995-film Sathi Leelavathi doesn’t have any resemblance to the latest one. “There would not be any comparison between the two films. I myself am a great fan of that old film. But our film is a modern spin to the new generation of husband and wife conflict.”
