Energy facilities across Ukraine have been damaged by Russian military strikes, intensifying electricity shortages as temperatures plunge. According to JICA, 137 generators and 57 transformers will be provided to help improve heating conditions and stabilize power supply. Since the start of Russia’s invasion in February 2022, more than 640 generators and related equipment have been supplied.

In Kyiv, temperatures have remained below freezing on most days, while power outages have persisted for much of each day. European countries are also stepping up efforts to provide generators and other energy support.
