Her family announced on Thursday (January 12) that the mother-of-three, born Lory Basham Jones, died “peacefully” on January 26 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

The beauty was born in West Virginia, relocated to Detroit, and made her home in New York City, but it was whilst living in Manhattan that her striking looks and slim figure secured her modelling work and leading roles in TV commercials. At that time, Lory landed a contract with Universal Studios and was cast as schoolteacher Tina Swenson in NBC’s Tales of Wells Fargo.
She appeared in 15 episodes during the western’s sixth and final season alongside Dale Robertson. The actress also featured in The Loretta Young Show, a 1950s drama anthology series hosted by actress Loretta Young. Here, she introduced significant moral lessons through dramas.
The host was best known for her roles in the films The Farmer’s Daughter and The Bishop’s Wife.
