Ant and Dec are set to return with a new all-star series of I’m A Celebrity…South Africa later this year, but it was a trip to South Africa that left Ant ‘disgusted’

Ant McPartlin branded Declan Donnely a “psychopath” as he criticised his “disgusting behaviour” on a flight the pair shared together. The popular presenting duo jetted off to South Africa to film for the next all-star series of I’m A Celebrity… South Africa.

The I’m A Celeb spin-off sees returning campmates battling it out in the wilderness as they face a series of trials and challenges. The first all-stars series featured the likes of Carol Vorderman, Joe Swash, and eventual winner Myleene Klass.

Filming for the series is understood to have taken place in September with the show set to air later this year. It will be hosted by long-term I’m A Celeb presenters Ant and Dec.

On their Hanging Out with Ant and Dec podcast, Ant revealed it was during a flight back from South Africa that he experienced Dec’s “disgusting behaviour”. Ant says his co-star was “asleep straight away” on the plane, and didn’t even catch an in-flight film.

When quizzed about the move, Dec, 50, said: “Didn’t watch a thing.” He added: “Got on, finished me sudoku and went to sleep. And the woman in front of me was doing a sudoku.”

A flabbergasted Ant, 50, responded: “Who gets on a flight and doesn’t watch anything? We travel at a good air category, this is at ITV’s expense, so we flew first class.

“We get on the flight, the seats are comfy, they turn into beds, you’ve little TV screen, you get a choice of movies, they bring the food when you want, nobody can get you on your mobile phone…”

It led Dec to confess that he “didn’t eat anything” on the flight either. Ant added: “You’re a psychopath.”

The conversation led to Dec confessing that he simply watched the in-flight map instead of a television show, because he “wanted to see where we’re going to reach”. The former Byker Grove star went on to admit all he drank on the flight was “a free bottle of water”.

A stunned Ant said: “A free bottle of water? It’s all free, it’s all free, fill your boots. And you drink, it’s not like me where I don’t drink.

“‘Glass of champagne sir?’ ‘No thank you.’ He does drink, but he declines it, he does a sudoku. When you woke up from your slumber, what did you do?”

Dec admitted he merely “had a drink of water” after waking up. Ant responded: “That’s it? No breakfast or nowt? Nothing, it’s disgusting behaviour. You might as well have flown in economy.”

Ant went on to joke that he will swap Dec’s ticket with another traveller next time the duo fly so they can enjoy the free drinks. The Geordie duo have worked together since meeting on Byker Grove in 1990.
