Kate Middleton proves that a classic blue shirt will always be the best wardrobe addition
Kate Middleton is reminding us that you can’t really improve on a classic when it comes to style. Yesterday, for a visit to Castle Hill Academy to mark Children’s Mental Health Week, the Princess wore a new wardrobe addition: a crisp blue shirt that paired perfectly with a structured blazer.
Of course it’s impossible to say for sure, considering Kate doesn’t reveal the labels she wears, but it appears to be With Nothing Underneath’s The Boyfriend 100% Fine Poplin Shirt in the Sky Blue Shade. Considering many of Kate’s clothes are from pricey designer labels, the £95 price tag of this makes it one of the more affordable pieces in her wardrobe.
Despite costing under £100, it’s anything but basic. The shirt features tailoring, a slightly oversized fit, double buttons and a 100% organic cotton fabric, making it a buy you’ll re-wear time and time again – and one that won’t lose shape after a few washes. Though you may not have heard of this British brand before, it’s been around since 2017 and is stocked in Liberty London and its online site. It also has rave customer reviews, who say the clothing is “incredible quality” and has “great fits”.

This is the second time Kate has worn the brand in recent months. Just before Christmas, during a visit to Northern Ireland, she layered the Jura 100% Yak Wool Cardigan in Coffee underneath her signature outdoorsy Barbour jacket. The cardigan, which is made from luxuriously soft yak wool and cut in a relaxed, boxy fit, is a piece that proves you don’t need logos to look expensive.
The rich mocha shade, button-down front and fine ribbed texture give it a heritage feel, and it instantly drew comparisons to Kate’s go-to knits from Boden, the British high street label she’s turned to for years. In fact, the Jura cardi could easily be mistaken for her “so soft” Boden crew-neck cardigan, which sparked a sell-out earlier this year after fans spotted her wearing it in a family video.
You can also still shop Kate’s trusty Barbour Defence Jacket, which has become something of a royal staple for outdoor visits.
