Anudeep KV is known for his hit comedy films, where logic is not much needed and is packed with silly fun. His latest Telugu film, Funky, is no different as it tries to follow the same route. The film is about making a film, whose name is ‘Funky’. The producer who is funding the project gets out of control and ends up in a hospital bed. Read on to know more!

Funky storyline

Vishwak Sen is in the lead, and Kayadu Lohar plays the female protagonist. The movie was released on February 13, 2026, ahead of Valentine’s Day. In the film ‘Funky’, Viswak Sen plays the director. However, the twists arrive when the constant budget keeps on increasing, which leaves the producer, played by Naresh Vijay Krishna, in a hospital bed.

His daughter, ‘Chitra’ (Kayadu Lohar), then takes on the charge to complete the film. She made the decision to replace the director to complete the shoot of the film. The movie then revolved around whether ‘Komal’ was able to regain control and his position. On the other hand, ‘Chitra’ tries her best to rescue her family from bankruptcy.

Is Funky a hit or a miss?

Vishwak Sen, who is known for his rowdy avatar, does an amazing job in delivering the one-liners and making the film look funny. It was refreshing to see him in a different, light-hearted role. On the other hand, Kayadu Lohar looks amazing as the producer’s daughter. Her persona on-screen is unmatchable. The film is not a long one, and it works in favour of the film as it lacks a proper story.

It was during the promotional events that the makers kept reiterating to the audience to forget logic and enjoy the comedy. However, the way the film is made, it might not please the viewers and can be a one-time watch. Another point about the film is that it lacks a proper flow and may look like disjointed pieces forced together.

Another key point of the film is that every scene looks random, and the connections seem to be missing. However, the jokes are fresh and nice. Funky lacks a clear direction, and it might not be a hit with the audience. While some films are for entertainment purposes, Funky lacks emotional depth. However, it does try to add the emotional quotient towards the end, but it doesn’t connect. The songs are nice, but the dubbing feels off in many scenes.

All in all, Funky tries its best to keep the audience hooked with its comedy drama, but it feels like a compilation of random scenes. Anudeep KV did his best to add the fun factor with one-liners. However, he paid little attention to the story and storyline. The actors did their job perfectly.

Netizens’ reaction to Funky

Fans who watched the movie on the first day, first show, shared their opinion on X. One user wrote, “Decent 1st half. Most of the comedy lands #Funky. Decent 2nd half. Packed with Anudeep’s silly one-liners that land for the most part. Emotion in the climax works. Editing is uneven that hampers the flow. Liked it overall #Funky.” A second user wrote, “Funky a silly over the top comedy where a few gags land well, rest of the movie is all over the place, utter nonsense and I guess most will feel the theme of #VishwakSen #Galeez ga anipisthaadhi..! Try at your own patience #FunkyReview.”
