OOTY: Valentine’s Day is extra special for Gen Z. To woo the youth for different kinds of meaningful celebrations for Valentine’s Day, the trading community has gone in for innovations.
This year, heart-shaped, rose, homemade chocolate has become a very special Valentine ’s Day attraction and delicacy in the hills.
M&N Chocolate Museum here, pioneer in homemade chocolate manufacturing here in the hills, has gone the extra mile to bring ‘rose charm’ for Valentine’s Day this year as it has come out with heart-shaped ‘rose truffle’ homemade chocolate. It perfectly matches with Valentine’s Day celebrations with meaning and purpose as it perfectly blends rose – a flower that is synonymous with Valentine’s Day – and the shape of the heart – to express love and affection.
How did the Valentine’s Day celebration originate? There are still many hypotheses doing the rounds with no clear view. But, it is widely known that the origin of Valentine’s Day feast is a mixture of pagan festivals of Romans, Christian martyrdom and, of course, medieval era romance.
While there is no single definitive and distinctive story or episode to tell history on the Valentine’s Day that falls on February 14, it is also linked to Roman fertility festival Lupercalia. Valentine’s Day celebration feast, known to have commenced in the 5th century, went on to become associated with romantic love in the 14th century.
Now, in the 21st century Valentine’s Day is a celebrated event around the world, and India is no exception.
The celebration of Valentine’s Day is just not about young ‘love birds’ reaching out to their respective sweethearts with gifts, mainly red roses, chocolates and greeting cards, but also an occasion for others to express their affection to their loved ones.
That’s why Valentine’s day has been gaining significance in the present era with a commercial touch.
Fazloor Rehman, proprietor of M&N Chocolate Museum, who was trained in Canada in homemade chocolate making, an outstanding chocolatier in the hills here, said his museum used rose extracts to fill the heart-shaped, homemade chocolate with red outer colour to make the heart shaped rose truffle a Valentine’s Day special attraction this year to appeal to the valentines.
Each bite of this rose truffle would make one feel as if he / she eats the pure and fragrant rose petals and enjoy its taste and flavour.
“This special rose truffle is made out of milk chocolate base, using pure cocoa butter, to retain the cocoa taste, the base for homemade chocolate. We have made small and medium sized rose truffles to add the extra splendor to take the rose treat with the symbol of heart to those who evince interest in celebrating Valentine’s Day. What is Valentine’s Day celebration without rose? Hope this will become a big hit with roses as well as chocolate lovers from this Valentine’s Day,” he added.
