BBC’s Gladiators has been pushed back on the TV schedule tonight due to FA Cup coverage, with the show now starting at 8pm instead of its usual 5.45pm slot

Gladiators has been rescheduled on the telly timetable tonight (February 14). The BBC programme, typically aired early on Saturday evenings, will be delayed by over two hours this week. Presented by The Chase’s Bradley Walsh and his son Barney, the show features contestants competing against the Gladiators and each other in a variety of physical challenges.

The timing adjustment for Gladiators arrives at a crucial point in the current series, with episode 5 concluding the final heat of the season, whilst episode 6 will signal the start of the quarter-finals. The new series kicked off a few weeks ago, introducing some fresh challenges, including Destruction.

If you’re curious about why the telly schedule has shifted and postponed the show, it’s due to an FA Cup match. The Aston Villa v Newcastle United game is set to start at 5.45pm, with BBC One coverage commencing at 5.30pm.

Gladiators, usually broadcast at 5.45pm on Saturday evenings, has consequently been pushed back to 8pm this week. Offering a sneak peek into this week’s episode, Radio Times has revealed what fans can anticipate, including some controversy in the final round of the heats.

Its synopsis reads: “Bradley and Barney Walsh host the last round of the heats. With five brutal events and the dreaded Eliminator to conquer, only the toughest will secure one of the last places in the quarter-finals. There is controversy on Crash Course, Apollo returns to the Duel podium, and Mark Clattenburg gets a new and not so helpful assistant referee”.

Last week, Gladiator Legend, also known as Matt Morsia, revealed he had sustained an injury and would be unable to participate in upcoming episodes whilst he recuperates.

Entering the arena with his arm in a sling, Bradley queried Legend: “Ok first things first, what’s happened to the arm?”.

Legend disclosed: “Unfortunately, I’ve damaged my bicep tendon so I’m going to be out.” He added: “It’s pretty devastating,” pausing before jesting: “Devastating for you guys.”

Because everyone knows you only come here to see me. ” Before exiting the arena, Legend expressed his gratitude to the crowd and blew kisses to the audience. However, Bradley assured that Legend would still feature in the series, stating: “He will be back.”

Meanwhile, Casualty, which typically broadcasts on Saturday evenings on BBC One and iPlayer at 8:30pm, will instead air at the later slot of 9:45pm tomorrow.
