Katie Price and Peter Andre shared a joint statement vowing to make peace – but now they’ve gone a step further.
Katie Price has proved that in showbiz even things once thought impossible can come to pass in a heartbeat – and followed her ex Peter Andre on Instagram. The 47-year-old, now married for a fourth time to Lee Andrews, appears to have offered another olive branch to her first husband, and he has done the same.
The pair, who got together in the wake of their appearance on I’m A Celeb and were married for more than four years before splitting in 2009, are thought to have unfollowed one another in 2021. It came in the wake of disputed claims she made in one of her many books.
Last month the pair, who share children Junior, 20, and Princess, 18, struck a so-called ‘no slam pact’. The exes both posted the same statement announcing that they would “close the door on the past” and said that they had struck an agreement that “neither of us will speak negatively about the other going forward”.
The move was so – the statement shared on Instagram said – they could “stand united for our children”. It was also shared by Princess and Junior on their own accounts, with their eldest child adding three red heart emojis, indicating their own relief that peace had broken out.
But while the move was hailed as positive, there are still concerns among those closest to Katie over her quickie wedding to Lee, who she wed just days after meeting in real life. They wed in Dubai but she then flew back to the UK.
Now she in back there, enjoying a honeymoon and their first Valentine’s Day together. However, as The Mirror revealed today, has been left fuming over what she sees as disloyalty in her own family after her sister Sophie liked a picture shared by her ex, Married At First Sight UK star JJ Slater, saying he was “so back”.
A source tells The Mirror: “Katie’s family are very much ‘Team JJ’. Ever since the break up, they’ve been in touch with him and supporting him. They think the way he’s been treated throughout this has been awful. They are really disappointed. He was so supportive of Katie and one of the nicest guys she’d been out with. That’s why Sophie liked his post.
“At the end of the day, he’s done nothing wrong. They’re not going to turn their backs on him and they’re really upset at the way he’s been treated. They’re pleased he seems to have moved on because they just want him to be happy.”
The insider adds: “Everything Katie is doing is just putting more of a distance between herself and her family. She won’t be happy seeing that her sister has liked her ex’s post – no matter how nice he is, he’s still an ex. She’ll think it’s disloyal but underneath, she knows she’s treated JJ terribly and that he’s a nice guy.”
A representative for Katie declined to comment on the source’s claims.
Recently, Katie had been loudly insisting that was being kept away from Princess’ career opportunities and hit out at both Peter and his management company. She said: “I had not been allowed to go on any photoshoot, no signings or Superdrug openings or anything like that. Why? Because I’m not allowed and I’m not welcome.”
The furious singer hit back at Katie on his Instagram with a fierce statement. “For sixteen years, I have stayed silent in the face of repeated lies from my ex-wife and her family, out of respect for my children and loved ones, but staying silent has been incredibly frustrating. That ends today.”
