The looming presence of gunmen wearing masks have caused Doctors Without Borders to suspend activities at Nasser Hospital in Gaza — a facility that had reportedly been home to Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad operations.

The woke Switzerland-based international humanitarian organization finally admitted that it had ceased all “non-critical” medical activities at the major hospital in southern Gaza following reports from staff that gunmen were stationed inside the facility and were moving weapons, according to Reuters.

Non-critical operations were ended at some point in January, but the change was quietly announced on a frequently asked questions section of Doctors Without Border’s website, which was last updated on Feb. 11, according to the Associated Press.

This marks the first time that an international humanitarian group in Gaza has publicly admitted to the presence of armed men stationed inside a hospital.

Hospital employees said they saw gunmen, some of whom were donning masked, in several areas of the hospital in recent months, according to Doctors Without Borders.

The Hamas-run Interior Ministry stated it was committed to preventing the presence of armed men inside hospitals in Gaza and that action would be taken against anyone caught with a weapon on the grounds of Nasser Hospital.

But ex-employees of Nasser Hospital reported being openly threatened Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror groups, the Times of Israel reported in April 2025.

Israel and the US have long maintained that Hamas has used hospitals, including Nasser Hospital, as centers of operations turning patients into human shields.

During the war in Gaza, Israel conducted raids on the vast majority of hospitals in the Strip to root out terrorists who used the buildings to store weapons and ammunition, according to the outlet.

Nasser Hospital was also the site of a siege between IDF soldiers and Hamas terrorsists for weeks in 2024.

This marks the first time that an international humanitarian group in Gaza has publicly admitted to the presence of armed men in a hospital.
