Nancy Guthrie’s kidnapping case has been grabbing a whole lot of attention lately. It’s been two weeks since the 84-year-old author was searched for. A search mission has been going on, and till now, no one has been arrested. Authorities have revealed that Nancy might have been kidnapped while she was asleep, and since February 1, 2026, the search is on for her. Along with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, the FBI is also investigating, and no prime suspect in this case has been found just yet.
A cheap gun holster and a backpack from Walmart can help investigators to find Nancy Guthrie’s abductor?
A photo of the alleged suspect was released by the FBI, wherein a masked man could be seen on the porch of Nancy’s home. Later on, several identity details were also shared with a reward of USD 100,000. It was also said that gloves and a backpack were discovered as key evidence. Later on, it was shared by an FBI officer to Reuters that the Pima County Sheriff’s Department blocked them from accessing the key evidence, which was later denied by Sheriff Chris Nanon. Amid this, some of the key evidence also made rounds on social media.

Firstly, in the released photo by the FBI, a gun holster could be found with the alleged. Later, with extended research, it was found that it was worth USD 10 gun holster from Walmart. A police officer told Fox Digital that they are hoping these findings could contribute to finding Nancy Guthrie.

On the other hand, as per social media users, the bag the alleged suspect from the FBI’s photo was carrying was also from Walmart in the local area. A self-proclaimed investigative journalist, Jonathan Lee Riches, said the backpacks, called Ozark Trail Hiker Backpacks, are available at only a select few Walmarts. For the unversed, Walmart is a few miles away from where Guthrie lives. Well, these clues can very much lead the investigators to the kidnapper.

How much has been demanded for Nancy Guthrie’s safe return?
For those who don’t know, two ransom notes were shared, which demanded a huge sum of money in exchange for Nancy Guthrie’s safe return. USD 4 million in Bitcoin was asked for first, with a deadline of February 5, 2026, which passed and a new note asked for USD 6 million in Bitcoin with a deadline of February 9, 2026. Guthries said that they would pay, but they need the assurance that their mom is safe and sound with the sender of the note.

Nancy’s son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, has been grabbing a whole lot of attention since the time the author went missing. The reason was that he was the last person to see Nancy, as he drove her home. A journalist revealed that Tommaso could be a person of interest in this case. However, Chris Nanon revealed that family isn’t at all involved, and rather, each of the members is helping.
