EXCLUSIVE: Kerry Katona and Katie Price were pictured enjoying a Dubai getaway together, but the reality behind the trip was far more complicated, as Kerry explains in her column
Speculation swirled after it emerged that Kerry Katona and her partner Paolo were in Dubai at the same time as pal Katie Price and her new husband, Lee.
The suggestion of Kerry gatecrashing her friend’s honeymoon quickly gathered pace, but Kerry exclusively reveals in her column for new!, that the reality was far more straightforward.
Katie and Kerry have been best pals for years, but Katie, 47, shocked the mum-of-five, 45, when she announced she’d got hitched to businessman, Lee Andrews, who she met on Instagram in Dubai just two weeks ago.
“Paolo and I travelled to Dubai for a romantic getaway for our first Valentine’s Day where we had a mega-quick 20-minute catch up with Katie Price and her husband Lee,” she explained.
“But unfortunately, during the trip, Paolo had to go back to the UK for a work emergency. I got to spend literally 14 hours with him before he had to leave, which meant I was left alone in Dubai, which we were both gutted about.”
Katie insists she knows what she’s doing, but Kerry branded her “absolutely bonkers” after finding out about the stunt. After Katie returned to momentarily face the music back home, she has now flown back to Dubai to see her man as they celebrate their ‘honeymoon.’
In an unusual turn of events, the newlyweds extended the invitation to Kerry and her new man Paulo Margaglione, – and look like they’re having a ball.
Posing in their bikinis alongside their men in the UAE, Katie, sporting a tiny orange bikini, and Kerry appear to have put their differences behind them. Lee looks like the cat who got the cream flashing his megawatt smile alongside the Atomic Kitten star, who didn’t hold back when she was asked about Katie’s nuptials last week.
Fans were left gobsmacked when the glamour icon revealed she had married the mysterious male as she posed from a hotel in Dubai – standing in a room with a swimming pool and hot tub adorned with rose petals which spelled out the words: “Will You Marry Me Katie?”
The Pricey gushed she’d met her “Richard Gere”. However, the news came just 11 days after Katie confirmed her split from JJ Slater, who is said to be heartbroken.
Writing in the latest edition of her new! magazine column, Kerry said she wouldn’t have got married again so soon. Branding her pal, “bonkers”, she wrote: “As Katie’s friend I absolutely love and support her no matter what she does – but she’s absolutely bonkers.
“Kate just wants to be loved. But, for me personally, I wouldn’t have got married. When I do get proposed to I want to make sure it’s forever.”
However, Katie insists it’s the real deal. Speaking on her YouTube channel as she packed her enormous suitcase for her trip to Dubai, she said: “What I want everyone to know is, I’m a grown a**e woman. I’m 48 this year, I’m not a young kid. I’ve learned a lot in the past few years, through therapy and learning to love myself. So I’m not stupid, I know what I’m doing and if I’m happy that’s all that matters.”
She added: “At the end of the day, no one knows what I know. It’s only been speculated by the press. I am very happy and that’s all that matters. That happy that I’m going back to Dubai for the weekend. So I can’t wait.”
