TEHRAN- Veteran Iranian stage and screen actor Enayatollah Bakhshi passed away on Sunday after a period of illness. He was 80.
Bakhshi had been hospitalized for nearly two months, IRNA reported.
He was undergoing treatment for multiple physical complications as well as an infection, the report added.
The acclaimed actor, who received an Honorary Diploma for Best Supporting Actor at the Fajr Film Festival last year, had recently appeared on the big screen in “Shah Naghsh,” directed by Shahed Ahmadlou.
Over a career spanning decades, Bakhshi built a distinguished resume in cinema, television, and theater. His film credits include “Killing Mad Dogs,” by Bahram Beyzaie, “The Fateful Day,” by Shahram Asadi, “Sahereh,” by Davoud Mirbaqeri “Cry,” by Masoud Kimiai, “Hunt,” by Majid Javanmard, and “Senator,” by Mehdi Sabbaghzadeh.
On television, he appeared in several popular series, including “Imam Ali (AS)” directed by Davoud Mirbaqeri, “Reign of Love” by Mehdi Fakhimzadeh, and “Zir-e Tigh” by Mohammadreza Honarmand.
Throughout his prolific career, Bakhshi collaborated with prominent Iranian filmmakers such as Ebrahim Golestan, Ali Hatami, Amir Naderi, Masoud Kimiai, Dariush Mehrjui, and Davoud Mirbaqeri.
Bakhshi began his cinematic career with a role in “Mr. Naive,” directed by Dariush Mehrjui, and went on to perform in numerous acclaimed productions, earning recognition as one of the enduring figures of Iranian cinema and television.
