After Imtiaz Ali announced his next film, Heer Ranjha, reports started doing the rounds that Rohit Saraf has been finalised as the lead actor.
Reports from Variety India indicated that the Mismatched actor has been locked to play the iconic role of Ranjha and would be sharing the screen with a newcomer. However, fresh reports now suggest that Rohit has not been finalised for the role, and the casting process is going on.
Hindustan Times reported that sources close to the film have denied Rohit’s casting and said that it is still in process. An official announcement will also be made soon.
Meanwhile, Imtiaz Ali and Ektaa Kapoor announced their upcoming film, Heer Ranjha, on the occasion of Valentine’s Day. This marks their reunion after the success of Laila Majnu, starring Avinash Tiwary and Triptii Dimri. The filming for the movie is scheduled to commence soon. It is set to be directed by Sajid Ali.
The title reveal has already sparked excitement, particularly among those who appreciated the deep-rooted emotional connection of the previous franchise entry.
Speaking about the project, producer Imtiaz Ali shared his vision for the reimagined classic, saying, “Heer Ranjha has its own world and rhythm, it speaks the love language of this generation while staying rooted in something eternal. Collaborating with Ektaa again feels like a natural continuation of a shared emotional language.
Apart from Imtiaz Ali and Ektaa Kapoor, the movie will also have Shobha Kapoor and Preety Ali as producers.
