  • The Godfather icon died at his home in Virginia on Sunday. He was with his wife, Luciana Pedraza, at the time, with his loved one sharing the sad news in a social media message.
  • She told their followers: “To the world, he was an Academy Award-winning actor, a director, a storyteller. To me, he was simply everything. His passion for his craft was matched only by his deep love for characters, a great meal, and holding court.” She went on to say he leaves “something lasting and unforgettable to us all”.
  • In his last social media post, Robert was seen lifting weights. He said: “I enjoy having a routine. Though I never went to the gym to get in shape for films. I preferred tennis, swimming, or horseback riding to keep me in shape.”
  • His official cause of death is yet to be revealed and it’s not been confirmed if he was dealing with any health issues. He had previously denied he had suffered a stroke in 2016.
  • In 2021, he revealed the importance of exercising in keeping him active. He told People at the time that that he worked out and stayed in shape with the support of his wife.
  • He said at the time: “I have good friends, and try to work out and keep in some kind of shape.”
