Chantelle Houghon, who won Celebrity Big Brother back in 2006, has opened up on the moment Good Morning Britain presenter Richard Madeley was “so rude” to her

A former Celebrity Big Brother star has opened up on her “rude” encounter with Good Morning Britain presenter Richard Madeley admitting “he made me feel really small”.

Chantelle Houghton was just 23 years old when she entered the Celebrity Big Brother house alongside household names including glamour model Jodie Marsh, TV presenter Michael Barrymore and American actress Traci Bingham.

The reality TV star now 43 shot to fame and became an icon part of the season because she was not a celebrity.

Producers threw her into the house with a bunch of famous faces and appointed Chantelle the task of convincing the other celebs she was part of fictional girl band, Kandy Floss.

The concept resulted in a number of unforgettable moments that turned Chantelle into a national treasure pretty much overnight.

During her height of fame, Chantelle rubbed shoulders with a number of big names in the entertainment industry however not everyone was willing to welcome her in with open arms.

Opening up on celebrities who weren’t so welcoming, she told Betway: “Richard Madeley, he was so rude. I went on a TV show, I think it was Richard and Judy on Channel 5 and he just made me feel really small.”

She continued: “He was like, ‘Oh, the nation might love you now, but it won’t last. Soon they’ll be tearing you to shred and no one will be interested in you anymore’.

The star admitted: “It just made me feel tiny. Ruby Wax was similar. She said, ‘Oh, you’ll only be around for 15 minutes, so see you later.’”

The Mirror has reached out to Richard Madeley and Ruby Wax’s representatives for a comment.

However not everyone gave her the cold shoulder as she revealed: “Jamie Oliver has always been one of the nicest celebrities. We both appeared on a show together and he took the time to talk to me about sudden fame and coping with.

She added: “He even invited me out to eat with his wife, Jools. Dermot O’Leary is also wonderful. I ran into him recently, and he’s just such a nice man.”

It comes as Chantelle opened up on her relationship with Ordinary Boys frontman Samuel Preston, 20 years after they first met.

At the time, she was in one of the greatest love stories to come out of Big Brother after finding herself in the middle of a whirlwind romance with Samuel, despite him having a girlfriend in the outside world.

They went on to get married the same year but sadly got divorced just months later. Fans have always longed for the former couple to get back together but it just wasn’t meant to be.

When asked if she’s still friends, she revealed: “Yeah, we still message every now and then. I think he’s engaged to someone now. I don’t know if that’s public knowledge, but hey! We’re still friendly, there’s no bad blood. We didn’t have an awful falling out.

“Obviously, there were problems and a bit of animosity at the time, but no, I genuinely wish him well. We’ve been through so much together that no one else will really understand. That friendship still matters. It’s good memories, and it’s something we did once in our lives. It was just a great experience.”
