Los Angeles, California. La La Land.
With its sun-drenched weather, beaches that stretches for miles, sunsets that can’t be duplicated and food scene that’s among the best in the world, some would consider the the City of Angels an idealistic place to call home.
Sophie Cunningham is not one of those people.
The Fever forward posted a video to her Tik Tok on Sunday detailing her massive distaste for one of the world’s greatest cities, calling its residents as people who, “have no personalities” and “all look the same.”
“So I promise you I’m not being judgmental because I legit think there’s a place for everyone, and some people thrive in different areas,” she said in her video. “I don’t think I’m an LA girl. Like at all. It’s just weird. People don’t dance, people don’t even say hi, they have no personalities. They have no personalities and they all look the same.”
Ouch. That was brutal.
However, Cunningham wasn’t done there. She doubled down on her take, calling out LA’s “famous influencers.”
It’s weird, please tell me that’s not weird? And all these personalities you see on Instagram and Tik Tok, like all these famous influencers, like, I like how they have found a space where they can feel like themselves and gain confidence online, but if you can’t speak to people or look people in the eye, like in person, is that not weird? Am I weird? I mean, I know I’m weird. People just get so used to talking to their phones, like talk to someone in person.”

And just in case her message wasn’t enough, Cunningham called everyone one last time by saying, “and look like yourself” before ending with a disgusted, “ugh.”
After being traded to the Fever to play alongside Caitlin Clark a year ago, Cunningham was accused of having affair with Suns, Mercury CEO Josh Bartelstein in a bombshell lawsuit last May.
Cunningham, like the rest of the WNBA, is still waiting to see if there will be a 2026 season. The WNBA and WNBPA have yet to come to an agreement on the new collective bargaining agreement, and with no end in sight, Cunningham may have to continue with the hot takes before stepping on the court anytime soon.
