“Rowdy” Ronda Rousey is returning to mixed martial arts.
Jake Paul’s company, Most Valuable Promotions, announced the 39-year-old former UFC champion has signed on with MVP to fight MMA fighter-turned-actress Gina Carano in a featherweight bout on May 16, from the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles. The fight will stream on Netflix.
Carano, 43, was 7-1 in MMA before retiring in 2010 and pursuing an acting career, appearing in “Fast and Furious 6” and “Deadpool.”
Carano is perhaps best known for starring in “The Mandalorian” but was fired in 2021 after controversial social media posts, though she sued Disney and later settled with them out of court.
Carano hasn’t fought in mixed martial arts since losing to all-time great female fighter Cris Cyborg while fighting for the Strikeforce promotion in 2010.
Rousey hasn’t been seen in combat sports for a long time as well, having started 12-0 before losing her final two fights to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes in 2016. She spent several years wrestling in WWE.

Rousey is considered one of the pioneers of female mixed martial arts, as the UFC previously did not have female fighters until Rousey burst onto the scene with Strikeforce in the early 2010s before signing with the UFC in 2013.
More MMA fights will be added to the card as the fights will take place inside a hexagon-shaped cage.
“We’re partnering with the fighter-first promotion MVP, as well as the biggest and baddest streamer on the planet, Netflix,” Rousey said in a press release. “This is for all MMA fans, past, present, and future. More to come… much more.”
