An X Factor star who says they’re a ‘romantic at heart’ is ready to join another winner of Simon Cowell’s talent show in a new musical about love fresh from a hit run on Broadway

Past X Factor winners Matt Terry and Dalton Harris are teaming up with Union J star Jaymi Hensley for a brand-new London musical – about love, connection and the many ways we understand it.

The trio will star in World’s Greatest Lover at The Other Palace this spring, a pop-rock show coming direct from Broadway, that throws history’s most famous romantics into a joyful – and outrageous – battle to discover who really deserves the title of the ‘ultimate lover’.

And for the stars, the show’s message about connection and celebrating love feels more meaningful than ever.

As Matt Terry exclusively tells the Mirror, “I’ve always been a romantic at heart, so being part of a show that celebrates love feels really special. Coming from a pop background, the music was a huge part of why I wanted to do it — the songs are incredible.

“It’s a proper pop-rock score with massive vocals, big emotional moments and tunes people are going to leave humming. It feels like the perfect mix of pop concert and musical theatre.

“It’s a funny, sexy, heartfelt show – if you bring a date to see it you’re definitely setting the bar high for the rest of the evening!”

Matt, who will star as ‘CDB’ ,is an X Factor winner who has amassed more than 250 million artist streams and has tread the boards before in shows such as theatre credits Rock of Ages, Madagascar and The Grinch, direct from Broadway.

And Union J singer Jaymi Hensley explains, “Being part of this show means a lot to me and couldn’t have come at a better time! Because it’s all about joy, connection and bringing people together. The music is exceptional – proper feel-good pop that will lift the whole theatre.”

He adds, “What I love the most is that audiences can just come in, switch off from the world outside for a couple of hours and just have a good time! It’s funny, glamorous and full of heart.”

Following its New York debut and an acclaimed, award-winning run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2025, the musical sees Romeo, Casanova, Cyrano de Bergerac and the Marquis de Sade collide in a no-holds-barred battle to uncover the truth about love.

Another X Factor winner, Dalton Harris, has enjoyed a UK No. 1 and has also performed i theatre, including the UK tour of The Drifters Girl, while Jaymi Hensley will star as ‘Sade’. Best known as a member of boyband Union J, Jaymi rose to fame on The X Factor before signing to Sony Music and releasing two studio albums.

Tragically, Jaymi lost his beloved fiancé, hairstylist Olly Marmon in August 2024, who fell more than 30ft from their hotel suite in Northamptonshire in August 2024. The couple had been in a relationship since 2009 and got engaged in 2014.

The grieving star penned a tear-jerking post on Instagram last September with the words: “For 14 years this was the happiest day of my year, every year without fail!

“Our anniversary! The day you made me the man I am today by saying yes to being my boyfriend! To say this day, for the past two has been pretty much unbearable would be an understatement! (sic).

“You were without a shed of doubt the best thing that has and will ever happen to me! The glue that held us all together. I want you to know on this day that it will always be our anniversary, I will always be yours!
