Ruth Langsford was spotted behind the scenes on Loose Women touching up her makeup with the £28 setting powder, and shoppers say it makes ‘your under-eyes look flawless’

Between the long hours on set and the hot glare of the studio lighting, it’s no secret that TV makeup needs to be able to withstand anything. So when Ruth Langsford’s makeup artist gave us a sneak peek at one of her go-to products to use whilst filming Loose Women, we sat up and took notes.

A behind the scenes photo from makeup artist Mel Kyle showed Ruth having her makeup touched up with the Kosas Cloud Set Baked Setting and Smoothing Powder which you can pick up for £28 at Sephora. Brilliant for removing shine and helping makeup to last longer, it’s a handy little product to keep in your makeup bag.

The Kosas Setting and Smoothing Powder has a lightweight airy texture that doesn’t feel cakey or heavy on your skin. And whilst it might feel like you’re wearing nothing at all, the benefits of wearing it are actually pretty impressive.

Not only does it blot away shine without getting rid of your glow, but the Kosas Setting and Smoothing Powder also helps mask fine lines, pores and uneven texture, leaving your skin looking smooth and flawless. The powder doesn’t give you any additional coverage or change the colour of your makeup, but it comes in 10 different shades to suit a wide range of skin tones to make sure you don’t end up with a chalky-looking cast on your skin.

It’s packed with active skincare ingredients too, so the Kosas Setting and Smoothing Powder will actually help your skin whilst wearing it. It contains bamboo stem extract to limit excess oil production, as well as passion fruit extract to hydrate and reduce the appearance of fine lines.

Meanwhile Chinese peony detoxifies pores, creating clearer, healthier skin. The Kosas Setting and Smoothing Powder comes in a mess-free pressed powder formula that makes it easy to touch up your makeup on the go. However it gives the same natural-looking diffused finish of a loose powder whilst still being talc- and silicon-free.

Another pressed powder favourite is the Airbrush Flawless Finish from Charlotte Tilbury which is £39. This has a more limited shade range, but contains ingredients like rose wax and almond oil to hydrate and smooth the skin, whilst light-reflecting ingredients diffuse light as it hits your face for an even, luminous looking complexion all day.

Meanwhile if you do prefer a loose powder, the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder is an icon in its own right, and is currently on sale at LookFantastic down from £38.50 to £29.95. It gives 24 hours of shine control with a matte finish, and is infused with vitamin C + E to support a more even-toned complexion over time.

However Ruth’s Kosas Setting and Smoothing Powder has gotten great reviews from shoppers at Sephora. One said: “This has replaced my Charlotte Tilbury pressed powder! It seriously makes your under-eyes look flawless.”

Whilst another agreed: “I love it best one I had. Bought so many kinds/brands. This is the best.”

Those who left less glowing ratings mostly found the packaging an issue, rather than the powder itself. One said: “This powder is great! I really like it. However, no matter how careful you are with the lid, it breaks at the hinge. It’s super annoying and for a product in the price range, I expect the lid to stay intact! Please change the design Kosas!”

Whilst another said: “I ordered this and the pink version, and the both broke without being dropped. I didn’t even carry them in a hand bag, they live in my makeup drawer. This is frustrating and I won’t buy this again the mess isn’t worth it.”

But the formula of the Kosas Setting and Smoothing Powder has proven a huge hit with beauty fans, with another saying: “This is the best powder I’ve tried in my whole life. Not cakey or matte, but glowy and perfect. So easy to apply even under my eyes!!!”
