The world of Hogwarts is preparing for a major transition as HBO moves forward with its much-awaited Harry Potter television series. While the announcement of a new adaptation has sparked mixed reactions among the global fanbase, the OG Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe, has stepped forward to offer his full support to his successor, 11-year-old Dominic McLaughlin.

Daniel, who played the iconic wizard across eight films from 2001 to 2011, recently shared his thoughts on the casting during a YouTube segment. Showing generosity toward the young actor, he expressed his belief that Dominic McLaughlin will not only succeed but potentially outshine his own legendary performance.

Daniel said, “I’m sure Dominic is going to be better than me.” Talking about his own decade-long journey in the franchise, he admitted that his early years were an important learning curve. “I learned as I went. I look back on what I did now with a lot more kindness, and I find it less embarrassing now that I’m older. But I was very much learning how to do it for a long time on Potter.”

The new HBO production, based on the beloved seven-book series by J.K. Rowling, is planned to span eight seasons, with a premiere expected in 2027. However, the reboot has faced scrutiny from fans, some of whom feel it may be too soon for a new adaptation, while others hope for a version more faithful to the source material.

Aware of the immense pressure that comes with such a high-profile role, Daniel requested the media and the public to be kind to the new generation of actors. He specifically asked that the new cast be allowed to establish themselves without being constantly compared with the original stars, including himself, Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley), and Emma Watson (Hermione Granger).

Daniel mentioned, “When these kids got cast, there’s a whole thing around the internet, around the world, people being like, ‘We’ve got to look after these kids.’” He added a request for those claiming to support the young actors: “If you mean that, if everyone really means what they are saying, then one of the things you can do for me is not ask about me and Rupert all the time.”
