World-renowned rapper Snoop Dogg has offered a candid tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The singer, 54, has been delighting fans with his appearance at the Winter Olympics 2026 in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy this month. The star was captured on camera being told he was going into the royal box at Milan’s historic opera house, La Scala, to which he expressed his excitement.

Snoop was told: “We are about to be in the royal box. Where Queen Elizabeth sat.” Reflecting on his friendship with the late monarch, the award-winning rapper said: “Oh wow, the Queen was my lady. That was my home girl.”

Father-of-four Snoop, who was born in Long Beach, California, previously gushed about the Queen, praising her for helping smooth his path when he faced a murder charge which was later dropped.

Snoop, whose 10-month-old granddaughter died recently, had said: “When they tried to kick me out of England, The Queen made a comment that her grandbabies loved Snoop Doggy Dogg, and he had done no wrong in the UK, so she gave me permission to be here.

“Those grandbabies grew up to be Prince William and Harry, so I had influence on them, and they had influence on their grandmother, which enabled me to get into this beautiful country. They love my music, and it is what it is. There’s a mutual love and respect.”

The musician, whose song Signs which featured Justin Timberlake and Charlie Wilson narrowly missed out as UK number one in 2005, is in Italy, working as a commentator for US broadcaster NBC. It comes after the rapper became the unlikely face of the 2024 Olympic Games and was seen all around Paris over the course of the 17-day event.

It comes after dad-of-four Snoop’s card declined whilst he was trying to buy a cheeseburger at the Olympics. Sofia Valmadre, whose parents own the bar, has opened up about the awkward encounter. “Snoop Dogg ordered a cheeseburger, chicken wings, chicken nuggets and French fries at Cronox, the bar of my parents,” she told Reuters.

“He sent his staff to take it and pay, but they couldn’t pay. I don’t know why, it wasn’t going [through]. So my mother told him that it was okay without paying.”
