Katie Price’s dark wedding rumours are wild but what’s coming next is truly chilling

An engagement, a wedding, now perhaps even a baby. Katie Price can still pull out a shock, but her move into AI is real Black Mirror stuff.

Nobody has ever been able to do ‘famous for being famous’ like Katie Price. The marriages, the drama, the feuds with exes, the surgery, the horrible put-downs. It can be grim to watch… but nearly impossible to ignore.

On Wednesday Katie declared she was having a baby in the same post that she called her husband’s ex an “irrelevant little troll”. As announcements go, it’s not the births and marriages section of The Times, but the shock factor has been a Pricey staple for as long as she’s been in the public eye.

Now we have the triple whammy in a matter of days: an engagement, a wedding, maybe even a baby some day. It’s like a soap opera writing team gone rogue after an afternoon in the pub: steady on lads, let’s keep this plot grounded vaguely in reality.

But reality can be a flexible concept, which brings us to artificial intelligence, the technology making inroads into the celeb space just like it is everywhere. Lee Andrews, Katie’s fourth husband, came under the AI microscope almost from the moment their engagement was revealed.

An image Lee posted showing him and Kim Kardashian together vanished from his grid amid claims it was AI (a source close to Kim gave the immortal quote: “She’s never met or worked with this man”) and he brushed off accusations pictures of him were heavily edited.

Katie is no stranger to the ‘real not real’ space artificial intelligence inhabits. She recently became the first British celeb to trademark an AI version of herself – a “digital twin” – and claimed this week that her twin takes “the night shift” while she gets on with her life. “More love for fans, more life for you,” she (or maybe the twin) said.

The post fuelled a so-called ‘dark rumour’ doing the rounds that the marriage was in some way grounded in AI, with one follower writing: “Ahhh now this makes sense. So you’ve not actually married Lee, it’s your digital twin. This is going to be hilarious when it all comes out.”

We can expect to see a lot more of this twin – and this is where things take a sharp turn into Black Mirror territory. Katie is into AI in a major way due to her deal with OhChat, a British start-up that its CEO has described as a “lovechild between OnlyFans and OpenAI”.

It’s a quite shocking glimpse into the future of how the worlds of adult content, celebrity and AI are set to evolve together. As her post suggested, it is ramping up now and who knows where it’ll go next.

They each get 80% of the revenue the ‘digital twin’ makes – and they don’t have to lift a finger. All of Katie’s naughty voicemails, topless snaps and bikini images are computer generated. It’s a truly eerie blurring of the line between human and machine.

How is Katie Price the first British star at the intersection of all this? Well, her bankruptcies speak for themselves but she’s always been good at sniffing out a money-making opportunity. Modelling, books, perfumes, the never-ending bikini pictures. There was even briefly an electricals range. If you believe the estimates, she made (and lost) a fortune of £45million.

As she told Olivia Attwood on her ITV show, AI will make her as much cash as OnlyFans – but without having to do anything. “It’s just another platform you can make money from,” she said. “It’s the next thing, so you’ve got to be in it.” Expect the digital twin to stick around. Look out, now there’s two of her…
