For her wedding to Vikram, Shweana donned a lehenga made entirely of metallic threads. The outfit designed by Monica Shah of JADE was crafted in a jaal-like pattern. The lehenga, inspired by the 40-year legacy of Chanakya International, took 1500 hours to complete.

It revives the Mughal-era Kasab technique and was made to look fluid like molten metal. The Kasab embroidery created on Shweana’s lehenga uses metal threads instead of traditional fabric. Each panel on the lehenga features raffia weaving and teal accents, which enhance the peacock motifs and Swarovski crystals. Once the traditional embroidery of Gujarat and Rajasthan, Kasab work is now reintroduced in contemporary fashion. As per multiple reports, Shweana’s bridal lehenga is worth Rs. 1 crore.

Shweana Poy Raiturcar is a creative brand strategist based in Mumbai.  She completed her schooling at The International School Bangalore. Followed by higher education from Bentley University, GIA (Gemological Institute of America), and Parsons School of Design – The New School.

Shweana began her career in 2012 as an operations intern at Inox in Surat, Gujarat. She later joined the DeBeersGroup and also worked at Shloka Mehta’s family diamond firm, Rosy Blue.
