Death In Paradise was back for a new episode tonight, with Mervin and his team dealt a brand new case following a death of an elderly parishioner from Seb’s church

Death In Paradise was back for a new episode tonight – but it looks like there’s some devastating twists ahead and even an exit. The BBC show was back for a new episode tonight, with new officer Seb at the forefront.

Seb took a key role in tonight’s episode, where the death happened at his church. It was initially thought to be a tragic accident but Mervin was convinced it was foul play and thus an investigation ensued.

Shaquille Ali-Yebuah, who plays Seb, shared with The Mirror about being on the show: “Death in Paradise was one of my first auditions. It was as if it was meant to be and fate I got the part.

“Guadeloupe is such a nice spiritual island. Beautiful nature, you have mangoes & coconuts just laying around in abundance, beautiful sunsets and every beach is picturesque. The island also has a nice laid-back energy, there is no rush unlike the rat race in the UK.”

Shaquille has worked with Don Gilet – who plays DI Mervin Wilson on the show – before and enjoyed reuniting with the former EastEnders actor on the BBC detective drama series.

“He played my dad in the radio show back in 2013 and it’s nice working together again now. Everyone has been so welcoming and Ginny, who plays Darlene, showed me everything I needed to know when I got there, like mosquito bite remedies, dos and don’ts, the best way to keep the bugs out and how to adapt to the Guadeloupe rhythm,” he told us.

However, it looks like there could be trouble ahead. A teaser for next week on the BBC show revealed that there could be a double exit on the cards. As they discuss Mervin’s brother, Naomi suggests that he should go visit Solomon in Antigua.

Meanwhile, new arrival Mattie finds herself being accused of ‘unprofessional conduct’ – but could this see to the end of her career?

A synopsis for next week’s episode reads: “A cast member is poisoned during a performance of The Tempest after drinking from a bottle of red wine with a lethal quantity of cyanide in, but the team are left confused as to how two other actors drank from the same bottle and emerged unscathed. Mervin is informed that his half-brother Solomon is set to inherit everything from their deceased mother and he won’t answer any calls.”
