PORT ST. LUCIE — Jorge Polanco not only knows the name Keith Hernandez, but could identify the Mets legend near the dugout the other day.
An introduction between the Mets’ new first baseman and the franchise’s standard at the position never happened, but that may change as soon as Saturday when Hernandez returns to Clover Park for his SNY broadcast duties.
“I would love to talk to him and pick his brain,” Polanco said, eyes widening upon hearing that Hernandez won 11 Gold Gloves at first base.
We contacted Hernandez to share Polanco’s sentiment that he wanted to meet him.
