Kelly Osbourne has opened up about the evolving nature of grief as she continues to process the shock death of her father, rock legend Ozzy Osbourne

Kelly Osbourne has opened up about her ongoing grief following the tragic death of her father. Rock superstar Ozzy Osbourne died in July last year at the age of 76 and following years of health battles.

The Osbourne family were left devastated by the loss – and Kelly has frequently opened up about her emotional struggles in the months since his passing. In a new social media update, the mum-of-one shared that she is experiencing a change in the way that she is processing the heartbreaking loss.

Kelly – who became engaged to Slipknot musician Sid Wilson, 49, in 2022 and shares a two-year-old son with him – penned a deep message about her emotions on Instagram Stories. The post began: “Some grief doesn’t end. It changes shape. It becomes the quiet weight you learn to carry, the ache woven into your days.”

Kelly continued: “Making it through doesn’t mean leaving it behind. It means finding the strength to live and love and keep going even with forever resting in your heart. When grief feels endless and disastrous, like it’s unmaking you from the inside out, surviving isn’t about conquering it. It’s about enduring it.”

She concluded: “It’s about standing in the wreckage of our own heart and whispering, ‘I am still here,’ even when every part of you feels shattered, and like you don’t want to be here.” The poignant post was later followed by a short video of Kelly and her toddler son cuddling together and wishing her followers a happy morning.

Earlier this month, while attending the 2026 Grammy Awards, which included a tribute to the musical genius of Ozzy, Kelly opened up about her grief. She told PEOPLE: “That’s the hardest thing I’ve ever been through in my life. But I have my man, and I have my gorgeous baby, and my mom and my brother and I so bonded. I didn’t think we could ever get more bonded, but we did.”

And she added that she doesn’t understand why people pretend to be okay after such sadness. She went on: “People usually say, ‘I’m great’ [Months after a death of a loved one, but] I’m not doing so great.”

Speaking of her new rituals, Kelly explained how she always lights a candle in Ozzy’s memory. And she says there is always an empty seat at her table in his honour, while she wears a special locket. She continued: “It’s under my dress, you can’t see it, but it has his picture in it, and my baby opens it every day and gives it a kiss and says hi to Papa. And every time I see the clock at 11:11, I know that’s him talking to me.”

The Grammy’s included an impressive tribute to Ozzy when the ceremony aired at the beginning of February. Fellow musician Yungblud was among those on stage performing in honour of the Black Sabbath frontman. Speaking on stage, he said: “To grow up loving an idol who helps you figure out your identity, not only as a musician, but also as a man, is something I’m really grateful for.

“But to then get to know them and honour them at their final show and receive this [his award] is something I am struggling to comprehend, we f*****g love you Ozzy.” He added: “The last time I saw Ozzy Osbourne, he asked me if there was anything he could do for me, and that the ‘music was enough’. God bless Ozzy Osbourne, and God bless f*****g rock music!”

Ozzy’s shock death was announced last July, days after the star had fronted a farewell performance with Black Sabbath in Birmingham. His death came five years after he revealed he had been diagnosed with a form of Parkinson’s disease.

The family statement announcing his death read: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.”

Ozzy had battled a range of health issues over the later years of his life – and almost died in 2003 when he was injured in a quad bike accident. The incident resulted in him requiring surgery, and reports revealed he suffered back pain and was unable to walk properly and was in constant pain.
