Sophie Habboo has kicked off the 2026 BAFTAs red carpet, and we’ve found the exact hair tool used to achieve her sleek, frizz-free waves
The 2026 BAFTA awards have officially kicked off, and although they are not airing on our TV screens until later tonight, that doesn’t mean the stars haven’t started making their red carpet entrance.
One of the first celebs to hit the carpet is Sophie Habboo, alongside husband Jamie Laing, as the official hosts of the BAFTA red carpet interviews.
Sophie made a star-studded entrance in a gorgeous, fitted black lace maxi dress, but it was her ‘old Hollywood’ style, wavy hairdo that really caught our attention.
The sleek locks had been loosely curled and placed on one side, and we’ve found the exact hairdryer that was used to achieve the smooth look. In an Instagram story sharing an inside look into her red carpet prep, we spotted her hairstylist, Willis Galbraith, using ghd’s newest launch, the Speed Ionic Hair Dryer, priced at £299.

Using a mix of hot and cool airflow at the same time, this new product boasts the ability to dry hair in a mere matter of minutes without overheating or damaging the strands. ghd has even clinically tested this and found no damage even when the dryer is used at the maximum speed and power.
However, faster and stronger airflow can often lead to frizz, but that is not the case with this dryer. The concentrated styling nozzle delivers frizz-free, smooth results, along with boosted volume at the roots.
When reviewing the new beauty tech for herself, our fashion and beauty lead Zoe Cripps said, “I’ve given it a good test on my long, fine hair, and true to its word, it delivers on speed. It managed to dry my hair in six minutes, which is much faster than usual. I also really love how it remembers my speed and temperature settings for the next time I turn it on.”
