The Princess of Wales is turning heads with her look at the BAFTAs, and not for the first time, as she has worn the glamorous pink Gucci dress on a previous outing
Kate Middleton decided to rewear a familiar old favourite for this year’s BAFTA Film Awards, following a week of headlines about the royal family. Confidently walking the red carpet ahead of the glitzy ceremony, the Princess of Wales stood out in an ultra feminine pink and purple gown.
The dress, designed by fashion house Gucci, was mostly rose-coloured with a plum velvet belt, which Kate, 44, accentuated with a matching clutch handbag. The princess paired the look with a simple silver bangle and let her hair fall in curls to below her shoulders.
But back in 2019, she paired the dress with pointed pumps and had her hair styled in a half-up do to expose a gorgeous pair of earrings, as she attended the 100 Women in Finance Gala at the V&A Museum.

That event used its proceeds to support mental health initiatives for young children, something the princess and her husband, Prince William, had been doing for a while. Speaking the year before, Kate sad that she, her husband and her brother-in-law Prince Harry were “honoured” to take part in a campaign to improve children’s mental health.
“Over the last two years, William and Harry and I have been honoured to take part in a national conversation on mental health through out Heads Together Campaign,” Kate said.
Now, she is wearing the dress again to support a year of film. She wore the dress to the 2026 BAFTA Film Awards in London, alongside Prince William, who wore a burgundy velvet suit.
Prince William was attending the event in his capacity as the president of the British Film and Television Arts, a position he has held since 2010. This year marks Kate’s first appearance at the awards since 2023, as she sat out both 2024 and 2025’s ceremonies due to her cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment.
This year is also not the first time she has reworn a dress at the BAFTAs either. In 2023, she wore a white Alexander McQueen dress, which she had also worn to the 2019 ceremony.
When William and Kate arrived at the BAFTAs, the red carpet was put into a lockdown so that the royal couple could make their entrance. They were all smiles as they headed in to the event.
The Prince of Wales said he had not yet watched the BAFTA Best Picture nominee Hamnet, about the death of Shakespeare’s son, because he “needed to be in a calm mood.”
As he and the Princess made their first joint appearance since the dramatic arrest last week of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, attending the EE BAFTA Film Awards, the heir to the throne revealed that Kate had watched the hugely emotional film last night and was left in “floods of tears”. But when asked if he had seen it, he explained: “I need to be in quite a calm state and I am not at the moment. I will save it.”
Andrew, the former prince was arrested on Thursday 19 February on suspicion of misconduct in a public office. He is alleged to have shared sensitive information with Jeffrey Epstein during his time as a trade envoy between 2001 and 2011.
Andrew’s brother and William’s father, King Charles, said in a statement: “I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office.
“What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities. In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation.
“Let me state clearly: the law must take its course. As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all.”
