Robert Carradine was 71 years old when he passed away, and he had been suffering from a mental health illness for nearly two decades. According to The Guardian, Robert’s brother, Keith, revealed that Robert committed suicide years after struggling with bipolar disorder.

Keith, in an interview with The Deadline, revealed that there’s no such shame in this, and it’s an illness. Keith shared that his baby brother was extremely wise, accepting and tolerant, along with being humorous. He added that he wants to celebrate his brother for the kind of beautiful soul he was, and also for his struggle with mental health issues. Robert Carradine could be quoted as saying:

“We want people to know it, and there is no shame in it. It is an illness that got the best of him, and I want to celebrate him for his struggle with it, and celebrate his beautiful soul. He was profoundly gifted, and we will miss him every day. We will take solace in how funny he could be, how wise and utterly accepting and tolerant he was. That’s who my baby brother was.”

What is bipolar disorder, from which Robert Carradine was suffering for the last two decades?

Robert Carradine’s other family members shared a joint statement, wherein they confirmed the passing of such a beautiful soul with a heavy heart. In the statement, it was revealed that the actor, who brought light to everyone around him, had been suffering from bipolar disorder for the last two decades. For the unversed, bipolar disorder is a chronic mental health condition which is characterised by unpredictable mood swings in the victim, causing a range of extreme highs to extreme lows. To mention, Robert Carradine’s last IG posts also came under scrutiny after his passing, but no sign of anything being wrong was there, and most of the content was focused on his podcast.

Robert Carradine’s brother, David Carradine’s demise triggered his bipolar disease

It was back in 2009, when Robert Carradine’s half-brother, David Carradine passed away due to asphyxiation in a hotel room in Thailand. Well, as per a report by The Guardian, it was David Carradine’s demise that triggered Robert’s mental health illness, which was later diagnosed as bipolar disorder. To mention, David Carradine was found dead in a hotel room with two ropes tied to his neck, as per a report by ABC News. It couldn’t be confirmed whether he died of suicide or not, but his demise was caused by suffocation or heart failure. Later, it was revealed that his demise might have been caused by auto-erotic asphyxiation. However, it affected Robert Carradine, and he was later reportedly diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

In his personal life, Robert Carradine was married to Edie Mani. The couple tied the knot on January 7, 1990, and they got separated after 28 years of their marital bliss. Robert Carradine and Edie have two kids, Marika Reed Carradine and Ian Alexander Carradine. Robert also had a daughter, Ever Carradine, whom he welcomed with his ex-girlfriend and horse trainer, Susan Snyder.
