Rashmika Mandanna Recalled ‘Shocking’ Experience Of Kissing Vijay In Front Of 200 People, ‘It’s A..’

Vijay and Rashmika are private people, and they have always kept things under wraps. Besides being romantically involved, Rashmika and Vijay shared screens for their cinematic projects, and one such movie was Geetha Govindam, wherein they were seen as a married couple. Well, one segment of the movie needed the duo to be seen kissing.

Rashmika, in an old interview, talked about the same. As per NDTV, an old video has gone viral, wherein Rashmika talked about sharing a kiss with Vijay Deverakonda. Rashmika said that a kiss is a very personal and intimate thing for her, and doing it in front of 200 people was something that was really weird to her and to her co-star as well. Rashmika could be quoted as saying:

“First time kiss onscreen was in Geetha Govindam. First time and all, you don’t know how it is-it’s with a co-actor. For me, a kiss and all is a very personal thing. It is a very intimate thing. Two hundred people were watching, and I was like, how? But I think it is the same for the co-actor also. Vijay was feeling the same thing as I was. So it was like, how do we do it?”

In the same video, Rashmika revealed that it’s a technical thing, and it’s about who the person is sharing the screen with. As Vijay and Rashmika were married in Geetha Govindam, the kissing scene was needed for the sequence and obviously for cinematic expression. Rashmika further revealed that it was her first kissing scene on screen, and it was shocking to her. Rashmika, in the same interview, revealed:

“It’s a technical thing; it’s who you do it with. At the end of the day, if the character needs it, then it’s good. If they don’t want to, then don’t. In Geetha Govindam, they were a married couple, so after marriage, you do whatever you want to do. So that was my first kissing scene, and it was very shocking for me.”

Rashmika Mandanna was earlier engaged to Rakshit Shetty, who was her co-star from Kirik Party. The duo met on the sets of the movie, and formed a bond, and eventually started dating. In 2017, the couple exchanged rings, but in 2018, they called it quits. The gorgeous actress and Rakshit called off their wedding due to irreconcilable and compatibility issues between them. Even though they parted ways, the duo never reportedly had any strained relationship between them, as Rakshit, a few years back, said that they were in touch. 

On the other hand, Vijay and Rashmika’s dating details aren’t widely available in the public domain, but reports say the duo started dating while filming their first film, Geetha Govindam. The duo never made their relationship official. Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda reportedly exchanged rings in 2025 at the actor’s Hyderabad home. If the reports are to be believed, it was a low-key event attended by the couple’s close ones. While the duo didn’t disclose the same publicly, the actor’s team confirmed the news. It most recently happened that they confirmed the news about their wedding and thanked their fans for sharing love with them.
